WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: We are seeking friendly, reliable outdoor enthusiasts to provide a high-quality recreation experience for the Blue Mountain Adventure Camp. The Overnight Summer Camp Counselor oversees daily activities and the well-being of participants, ensuring campers’ needs surrounding meals, sleep, and breaks are consistently met. Qualified applicants should embody the camp’s core values of Safety, Fun, and Learning.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE POSITION:

• A strong enthusiasm for the outdoors and recreation
• Enjoys planning and directing group activities and events
• Possesses the ability to work both within a team and independently without direct supervision
• Strong communication skills both written and verbally
• Extraordinary ability to provide outstanding guest service
• Previous experience with children in an educational or recreation setting is a plus

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT:

• Leads and develops fun, engaging recreation activities and events, such as hiking, rock climbing, ziplines, ropes courses, laser tag, archery, yoga, and kayaking
• Manages an assigned group of campers through various activities during and after day camp hours
• Supports fellow teammates during meals, activity set up/break down, and breaks
• Maintains various program records, including attendance logs, inspection documents, and incident reports
• Consistently enforces all safety guidelines and procedures

Housing, which is a large canvas tent shared with another staff member, is provided Sunday night through Thursday night when the staff member is scheduled. There is not housing if the person is not on shift or on Friday or Saturday nights unless they book themselves something with camping/glamping or offsite.

IMPORTANT DATES FOR THE 2023 CAMP SESSION:

• June 8th-9th : High Ropes Course Training - attendance strongly encouraged
• June 12th-16th : Camp Counselor Training Week- attendance MANDATORY
• The camp session dates are as follows. Each counselor must commit to at least 5 sessions, with committing to 6 being preferable:
  • June 19th – 23th
  • June 26th – June 30th
  • July 10th – July 14th
  • July 17th – July 21st
  • July 24th- July 28th
  • July 31st – August 4th
  • August 7th – August 11th

Must be 18 years of age or older to apply
