Looking for a fun and rewarding summer job? Look no further than our team of Summer Camp Counselors! We're looking for enthusiastic individuals to teach our hands-on, engaging Science & STEAM Camps for kids ages 5-10 throughout Fairfax County.

As a Camp Counselor, you'll report to our Summer Camp Director and be responsible for the daily administration of our Summer Camp program, ensuring a fun and safe environment for our campers. You'll use our provided curriculum and materials to conduct engaging activities that spark creativity and curiosity in our campers. We expect our Counselors to be respectful, patient, responsible, and courteous with our campers and other staff members.

  • The available positions are seasonal and can be either Part-Time or Full-Time, offering 32 to 40 hours per week.
  • Camp locations are at Elementary schools around Fairfax County in Alexandria, Annandale, Falls Church, McLean, Lorton, Oakton, Springfield, Vienna, Herndon and Centerville.
  • Compensation ranges from $14-18 per hour (depending on position, qualifications, and experience)
  • Applicants who do not complete the indeed assessments will not be considered!

Job Duties:

  • Show up ON TIME at the designated location. We are responsible for the children.
  • Set up for camp using the supplies provided
  • Teach the camp (camps are set up as 9am-12pm and 1pm-4pm with a supervised lunch)
  • Ensure the students leave with the designated pickup person.

Requirements:

  • Be over the age of 18 and a high school graduate.
  • Must be able to commute and have a reliable method of transportation
  • Have relevant child care experience
  • Have a demonstrated ability to inspire, entertain and teach kids.
  • Be fun-loving, warm and high-energy, and have a sense of humor.
  • Have a passion for science and creative thinking.
  • Maintain a neat and clean appearance.
  • Be a team player.
  • Be physically able to perform classroom demonstrations and activities effectively and safely.
  • Be physically and psychologically able to maintain a safe, orderly environment with large groups of young children in a highly active setting.
  • Consent to and pass a criminal and health background check for working with children.
  • Be drug-free.
