STNA - Hospice Aide

**Pay Rate up to $20/hour**

Our STNA - Hospice Aide - Northeast Ohio Hospice provides personal care and related services to patients in this agency.

Requirements for a STNA - Hospice Aide:

  • Minimum age requirement of 18.
  • Must have completed the 9th grade, with ability to read or write at an adequate level. High school graduates and GED preferred.
  • Must be an STNA (State Tested Nurse Aide).
  • Completion of an approved hospice aide/homemaker training program as outlined under the Hospice Conditions of Participation 418.76: Hospice Aide/Homemaker Services; and proof of certification as a Hospice aide/homemaker from the program OR completion of a nurse aide training and competency evaluation program approved by the State as meeting the requirements under Medicare ? 483.151 through ? 483.154 and is currently listed in good standing on the State nurse aide registry OR completion of a state approved training program and certification as a home health aide, and proof of certification
  • Minimum of one (1) year of direct patient care experience in an institutional or home care setting required with community health/hospice experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation that is insured in accordance with Ohio requirements.

Responsibilities for a STNA - Hospice Aide:

  • Provides personal care including, but not limited to:
    • Bathing
    • Grooming and shaving
    • Back rubs
    • Oral hygiene
    • Hair care
    • Changing bed linens/make the bed
    • Assisting patients with dressing and undressing
    • Skin care
    • Foot care
    • Ear care (Q-tips cannot be used)
    • Nail care (nail cutting or filing is not to be done)
    • Assisting the patient with toileting activities
    • Keeping patient's living area orderly, as appropriate
  • Assists in feeding the patient as needed.
  • Obtains vital signs, if needed or ordered, records and notifies the primary RN of deviations according to standard practice.
  • Assists in ambulation, transfers and exercise (which has been taught by a health professional of the agency) according to the plan of care.
