Success in the Role: What are the performance goals over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

Success in this role requires successfully delivering business outcome for VMW SaaS transformation. You should be comfortable working by yourself and collaborate with the larger team. You will start with building Identity platform and eventually owning the broader portfolio of the SaaS Platform.

What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

As a Senior Engineer of the VMware’s Cloud Services, you will be responsible for developing the platform that delivers a consistent experience and dramatically accelerates the SaaS delivery of all VMware SaaS services. You will be leading the transformation of VMware products to SaaS and have direct ownership of this key SaaS enabling platform. As someone with strong SaaS delivery experience, you will not only provide technical guidance but take a position of authority on shaping the strategy, plan and ensure rapid delivery of services with quality. As a Staff Engineer, you will be instrumental in our initiatives to build and launch new services and solutions that are key to VMware’s exciting and evolving strategic SaaS direction.

What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?

This position reports to head of engineering for Identity. You will initially be part an established team that has a wide range of core platform responsibilities, but the expectation is that you will help blaze a new trail for the team and organization in the area of Identity. This is a great opportunity for someone who likes to start new things, be on the fore front of technology and put their mark on a team, company and industry. The global team is spread throughout VMware offices including Palo Alto, CA, Sofia, BG, Tel Aviv, IE, and India. Qualifications:

• Passionate engineering lead who has delivered and managed cloud applications at global scale under demanding 4 99's SLA

• Minimum 8-10 years of software development experience in building SaaS solutions

• SaaS development experience a must, with proven track record of delivering highly scalable and resilient systems, on tight schedule with distributed team

• Deep technical skills across both proprietary and open-source, and a good breadth across many technologies. Knowledge spanning multiple platforms and architectures with deep understanding of algorithms, data structures, and performance optimization techniques.

• Known as a cross-team consensus builder

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with technical and non-technical multi-functional teams

• Must have experience building large scale, high performance systems and software. Demonstrated excellence in designing and implementing multi-tiered consumer and enterprise applications, high throughput services and integration middleware

• Expertise with heterogeneous, enterprise, distributed, object-oriented client/server and/or web-based systems design and implementation.

• Technical Bachelor or Masters degree (Computer Science, Electrical Engineering)

• Extensive programming experience in Java, C, C++, go

For US based candidates, the annual pay range (OTE for commissioned roles; Salary for other roles) for this position is: $139,000 - $331,000. The actual offer will be based on the role, location, and individual candidate experience. Bonus, commission, and/or equity may be eligible for this position.
