Staff Accountant - Spokane WA Job at Northwest x Southern Hospitality

$45,000 - $50,000 a year

This position will be based in our Spokane WA office. The Staff Accountant performs specific accounting, treasury, reporting and control functions for multiple hotel properties, under the direction of Regional Controllers and with a focus on accuracy and timeliness.

Summary of position:

  • Develop and maintain positive and productive relationships with all corporate and property related staff.
  • Interact with hotel property personnel who perform accounting transactions.
  • Monitor and reconcile daily cash and credit card transactions generated at each property. Work with the property personnel to identify and troubleshoot transactional errors.
  • Monitor credit card disputes; communicate with property personnel to ensure disputes are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and maintain various spreadsheets.
  • Prepare certain monthly journal entries as directed by Regional Controllers.
  • Reconcile certain monthly balance sheet accounts with full supporting detail. Reconcile balances due from/to related entities.
  • Combine financial information into packets for ownership and perform quality control checks to ensure accuracy.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude that inspires others to meet and exceed standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA or BS in Accounting.
  • One to two years of experience with general ledger accounting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft products. Ability to create ad hoc spreadsheets and reports. Ability to learn software quickly.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
