The Sr. Director, Product Management – Mobile Cooling is responsible for directing the Global and Regional product strategy for Dometic Mobile Cooling, including Active Cooling, Passive Cooling, and Hydration. The Sr. Director, Product Management will be responsible for profitable growth and operational execution of Dometic products globally, across all channels of distribution. This role is responsible for building a product roadmap and strategy to meet the needs of our core consumers and deliver the financial targets of the group. This seasoned individual has an entrepreneurial spirit, able to drive strategy while focusing on execution, and thrives in an environment that is fast paced and demands knowledge of all parts of the business. This role reports directly to the Global Head of Product, Mobile Cooling.


Duties:

  • Create global product strategy, product roadmap, and innovation alignment between the Global group
  • Conduct market, industry, and consumer research to identify Mobile Cooling business and market insights/opportunities as well as demographics and trends; develop the strategy for business growth
  • Prepare and implement product strategy, product introduction and positioning as part of a comprehensive Go-To-Market strategy.
  • Evaluate, categorize, and prioritize current internal and external new product ideas based on agreed upon cross-functional ranking criteria. Determine and evaluate consumer need gaps relative to the new potential business areas.
  • Determine and prioritize areas of potential exploration for new businesses and new products that leverage the Dometic brand equity.
  • Formulate strategic plans and marketing plans for the each of the businesses, inclusive of promotion, distribution, and sales tactics. Category and competitive analysis to optimize the business performance and growth potential of the new initiatives.
  • Lead and coach product managers and associate product managers when needed.
  • Coordinate and lead all aspects of New Product Development – concept development, product definition, consumer research, product design development, engineering planning, product specifications, and market launch planning. Includes related administrative requirements, such as packaging and launch material development.
  • Collaborate with a wide variety of functional areas, such as Sales, Engineering, Finance, Manufacturing, Purchasing, etc. in the development of new product. Must keep all projects on schedule and maintain required quality levels.
  • In conjunction with Purchasing, assess worldwide suppliers regarding their new product development and manufacturing abilities. Form relationships that will allow Dometic to be the customer of choice for new product initiatives.
  • In conjunction with Engineering and Manufacturing, report on emerging / converging technologies and their potential impact on industry.
  • Conduct Sales Training – product knowledge training seminars, plus development and delivery of essential materials.
  • Support sales & marketing activities to ensure revenue, profit, and inventory targets are met monthly
  • Review demand & supply trend to identify business issues & risks, and escalate as needed for fast problem solving
  • Attend tradeshows and other related events to obtain customer and consumer feedback
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing or related field required; equivalent experience may be substituted
  • Minimum 10 -15 years of experience in product management, product development, and/or consumer research projects required; engineering background is plus
  • Experience in coolers, outdoor, camping, hardgoods, CPG, etc. industries strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to develop business plans and take full responsibility for success of assigned projects – from inception to completion.
  • Ability to work in matrixed global organization with teammates in multiple time zones.
  • Possess passion and enthusiasm for improving the outdoor mobile cooling arena
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities
  • Ability to work cross-functionally as well as be independently motivated and driven with minimal supervision
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, especially PowerPoint and Excel, is required
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, up to 30%

The starting base pay for this role is between $160,000 and $180,000. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, location, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
