Job Description:

The S enior Ground Operations Insights and Design Consult supports our Purpose by managing the strategy a nd development of highly visible projects that affect font-line Employees. This role will work with Teams in Innovation, Technology, and Ground Operations to create innovative solutions that are efficient and effective to drive the future of Southwest’s initiatives . The Senior Ground Operations Insight and Design Consultant is detail-oriented and enjoys working in a dynamic environment where they’ll own the full life cycle for a variety of projects.

Responsibilities

Set the vision and associated work streams that influence and contribute to the development of the Ground Operations’ roadmap; incorporating quantitative and qualitative insights that identify operational gaps, assess the implications of emerging industry trends, and explore the application of non-industry capabilities to pioneer solutions that drive success in reaching our vision

Be the driver of internal and external teams (Ground Operations, Operational Performance, Customer Experience, Technology, etc.) to consolidate different viewpoints, devise a strategy, and develop a plan with tangible milestones via an emphasis on front line engagement, prototype development, and subsequent iterative testing and design to influence system-wide deployment

Challenge the status quo while seeking alignment with other functional teams in a manner that may allow implementation of short-term solutions while elaborating on long term, ideal state strategy

Display expert level depth of operational understanding and knowledge around Employee roles and responsibilities

Design and champion new innovative solutions that empower frontline Employees and bring clarity to challenging situations within the operation

Lead the development of frameworks for analyzing unique, complex, and/or ambiguous challenges while anticipating risks and defining opportunities to achieve Ground Operations’ vision

Align Executives via the creation and delivery, of expert level communications/presentations that summarize difficult and complex topics into easily understandable storylines

Organize, structure, and lead service research, test, and design sessions using a variety of tools/techniques that allow participants to validate service components and define detailed requirements

Create, maintain, and assist the Team in the use of project and product frameworks that maintain organized and well communicated plans across blended teams within operations, commercial, and technology groups

Foster a collaborative relationship with partner teams and be established as a thought leader within the broader Operations space in a manner that inspires action and casts a shared vision of change

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Skilled and persuasive communicator who can effectively manage relationships internally and externally

Skilled in demonstrating initiative, entrepreneurialism, and creativity

Skilled in using business intelligence tools such as SQL or Tableau

Ability to take ownership and accountability

Ability to make decisions in an ambiguous environment

Ability to lead on projects and serve as a subject matter expert

Ability to work successfully under pressure while performing multiple concurrent tasks with frequent interruptions

Ability to assume a high level of responsibility and to provide direction in a cross-functional, team-oriented environment

Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret data, develop insights, and modify approach required

Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups

Demonstrated preparedness to take a position when rewards outweigh the risk
Education

Required: High School Diploma or GED

Experience

Expert-level experience, expansive and far-reaching knowledge in:

Consulting, corporate strategy, technology, product, or service design

Meeting and workshop development and management, deck writing, storyboarding, inductive/deductive reasoning, interviewing, issue analysis, data analysis, process design, and change management

Technical acumen and expertise in designing, building, and executing prototyping of applications, processes, and services

Licensing/Certification

Physical Abilities

Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time

Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job

Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job

Ability to be or remain stationary in a forward and downward position

Must be able to remain in a stationary seated position for under 50% of the time

Must be able to remain in a stationary upright position for under 50% of the time

Ability to traverse from one location to another (does not include travel to/from work)

Other Qualifications

Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines

Must be a U.S. citizen or have the authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986

Must be at least 18 years of age

Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
