Job Overview

The Senior Accountant - Client Accounting assists the Client Accounting Manager as the main liaison between the company and the client for accounting and banking services. Under the supervision of the Client Accounting Manager, the Senior Accountant – Client Accounting is responsible for producing detailed monthly financial reconciliations for clients. The ideal candidate must be detail-oriented, be able to work well under pressure, meet hard deadlines, and have excellent communication and presentation skills. The Senior Accountant – Client Accounting is responsible for performing various accounting-related duties by providing, analyzing, reconciling, and reporting accounting information from multiple systems, reports, and processes.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Verifies, and records daily incoming client funding received at respective banks.
  • Reviews, and send daily balances to respective departments for specific programs.
  • Reconciles daily and submits funding templates for specific programs.
  • Records daily checks issued from specific programs.
  • Processes weekly funding requests for specific programs within our collection limits.
  • Verifies funding for programs prior to check printing.
  • Prepares, and submits pre check registers for daily check printing.
  • Reviews, and submits manager’s decisions for exceptions at respective banks for positive pay.
  • Responds to check inquiry requests, and issues stop payments per respective manager’s instructions.
  • Prepares client bank reconciliations and submits requests to clients for reserve funding.
  • Monitors cash balances, performing cash transfers, and troubleshooting banking issues.
  • Follows-up on out-of-balance items to resolve problems as necessary.
  • Conducts research on any outstanding or unexplained items.
  • Customizes and transmits periodic statements to clients.
  • Provides administrative support by providing copies of bank statements and cancelled checks and assisting with stop-payments as requested.
  • Initiates opening and closing bank account with bank representatives.
  • Prepares Form 1099 Miscellaneous annually.
  • Initiates outgoing wire transfers to include call back and origination verification.
  • Identifies opportunities to streamline processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Maintains strong documentation standards and audit trails to support all transactions.
  • Prepares a variety of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Provides assistance to auditors and examiners to include retrieving data requested and providing responses to questions.
  • Main point of contact with clients, vendors, and bank representatives. Communicates with management regarding client accounts.
  • Provides backup support for various accounting team functions.
  • Other duties or projects as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities

  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
  • Self-starter and capable of working independently with minimal supervision and guidance.
  • Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to deal with difficult problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills due to client interaction.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to develop processes where none currently exist.
  • Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to accept and act on constructive criticism.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Must have US work rights

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in accounting from a four-year college or university is preferred.
  • Requires occasional in office attendance.

Experience

  • At least two years’ experience in bookkeeping, accounting, treasury, or finance including understanding of general accounting practices and principles.
  • Proven experience in account reconciliations.
  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and scanners.
