SQL Server Database Administrator

Digital Enterprise Solutions, Inc. (DESI) (formerly Disk Enterprise Solutions, Inc.) is seeking a mid-senior level SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This is a Full Time (Regular) Exempt (salaried) position located in Patuxent River, MD 20670. Telework maximized/permitted to the greatest extent possible. On-boarding will require 1-2 visits to Patuxent River, MD. Candidate will be required to work onsite at the Patuxent River Naval Air Station (NAS Pax) ~2-5 days per month.

The qualified applicant will become part of DESI's IT Services Group supporting the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) in a wide range of leading-edge IT products and services within the Naval Aviation Enterprise.

ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Install, configure, upgrade, and administer SQL Server database engine, SQL Server Service Broker, SQL Server Integration Services, SQL Server Analysis Services, and/or SQL Server Reporting Services.
• Configure SQL Server instances and ensure compliance to DoD STIGs.
• Work with software engineers to test databases and schemas.
• Configure, perform, monitor, and manage database backups and recoveries.
• Perform daily checks of databases, backups, exports, jobs, and storage.
• Troubleshoot databases, schemas, and user accounts.
• May assist with re-platforming and migration of government on-premises databases and schemas to cloud environments including:
• Communicate and work with cloud migration SMEs, system/web administrators, and data center personnel to verify and update database migration plan, specifications, actions, and tasking.
• Create and maintain SQL Server database cloud migration documentation including detailed SOPs and checklists.
• Adhere to cloud migration schedules.
• Track, document, and provide progress on database migrations.
• Report issues and risks to cloud project manager.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
To be considered for this position, you must meet the minimum education and experience listed below:

• Bachelor’s degree and 3 years' experience related to the roles/responsibilities above -OR- Associate’s degree and 7 years' experience related to the roles/responsibilities above -OR- HS and 9 years' experience related to the roles/responsibilities above.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience as SQL Server DBA working with SQL Server 2014,2016, and/or 2019.
• Experience with performance tuning and query optimization.
• CompTIA Security+ certification.
• Active SECRET Clearance required with the ability to obtain SSBI.
• US Citizenship is Required per government contract and for clearance eligibility.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:

• Experience with migrating existing SQL Server databases to cloud-based (AWS) environments.
• Experience with Data Guard, AWS RDS, Rubrik, Sybase, Oracle, or other RDBMS’.
• Active TOP SECRET clearance or SSBI.
