Responsibilities:
When it comes to what you’ll do as a Assistive Technology, Specialist at UCP, here’s what to expect:
  • Provide technology recommendations for those who have a need for assistive technology. Determine appropriate assistive technology for the individual based on participant's need.
  • Complete all necessary documentation related to entrance and exit of a participant from the assistive technology programs.
  • Monitor the delivery of services to ensure participant and family satisfaction.
  • Receive and pick-up donations of Assistive Technology. Gather and record data for equipment receipt and distribution. Clean and refurbish donated equipment.
  • Prepare the equipment for reutilization by making recommendations regarding safety and repairs.
  • Plan and complete logistical arrangements for equipment delivery and receipt.
  • Ensure a release of liability form is signed before equipment is released to participants.
  • Complete follow-up telephone calls with borrowers Complete consumer satisfaction surveys.
  • Arrange for the return of loaned equipment.
  • Maintain all information in accordance with Agency confidentiality policies.
  • Assist in the completion of all documentation necessary for TechOWL reporting functions.
  • Ensure the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of the TechOWL Centralized Assistive Technology Lending Library service meets stated objectives.
  • Ensure all data maintained within tracking platforms is up-to-date, accurate, and comprehensive.
  • Attend learning sessions that impact the operations of the department and the Centralized AT Lending Library.
  • Ensure the consistent and timely completion of all required paperwork and forms related to department.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks and normal usage repairs on items as needed.
  • Coordinate major repairs with others in the department.
  • Communicate effectively, daily/weekly, with other staff members in the department and/or Division Manager.
  • Log necessary information into appropriate databases including NATADS and Asset Tiger.
  • Process, track, and file lending library request forms and loan request confirmations. Respond to all requests received via email, phone, or in-person within 48 hours.
  • Maintain all requests for Changing Hands.
  • Provide assistive technology related information and technical support to individuals with disabilities, their families, and the people who support them. Participate in and log all conference calls.
  • Provide support and training for all programs to include: Assistive Technology Lending Library, TDDP, TechOWL, and Independent Living Technology.
Qualifications:
At a minimum, you'll need:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Certificate required.
  • Associate’s Degree or technical certification within a related area preferred.
  • Related Studies: Computer Electronics, Special Education, Human Development, Psychology, Physical Therapy Assistant, Occupational Therapy Assistant.
  • 6 months to 2 years of previous job-related experience expected.
  • 2 to 5 years of previous job-related experience preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License and 6 months previous driving experience..
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
It'd be great if you also have:
  • Knowledge specific to the needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism, and/or the aging population. Understanding of Assistive Technology.
While performing the duties of this position, a Coordinator, Assistive Technology at UCP will:
Continuously sit, use a computer, express and exchange ideas, communicate with others, apply visual acuity less than 20 inches, and apply visual accuity greater than 20 feet
Frequently sit, stand, walk, twist, move 1-10 pounds, move 11-50 pounds
Occasionally move greater than 50 pounds, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, reach above shoulders, and work outdoors
Rarely climb stairs, walk on uneven surfaces, use a computer, and apply visual depth perception and field of vision (if vehicle driving duties assigned)
