Special Education Teacher Job at Delaware County Intermediate Unit
The job of Teacher - Special Education was established for the purpose/s of providing an appropriate individualized program in the least restrictive environment for each student to support the instructional process by serving as a teacher with speci?c responsibility for developing special education students' success in academics, interpersonal skills and activities of daily living; supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas; developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines; collaborating with other teachers, other professional sta?, and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students’ parents or guardians regarding the instructional program and student progress.
Minimum requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree in education or special education
- A valid Pennsylvania instructional teacher certificate in one of the following areas is required;
- 2840 Early Childhood N-3
- 9226 Special Education PK-8
- 9231 Special Education PK-12
- Ability to work e?ectively and regularly with a computer and computer programs Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Possess excellent interpersonal and team building skills Possess strong organizational skills
- Ability to function independently Flexible and reliable
- Experience working with students with special needs preferred
