Hobart Weigh/Wrap is part of the ITW Food Equipment Group. We are seeking a qualified Software Engineer. This position will be based in Troy, Ohio centrally located to Columbus, Dayton, and Cincinnati.


Job Description


This Software Engineering position will not only have an opportunity to work directly with customers but will also develop software solutions that will leverage knowledge of applications, scripting, databases, and existing frameworks. The incumbent will contribute in documenting customer requirements, solution development, and integrating into customers environment. Our engineering team builds effective and flexible systems that can quickly respond to design and customer demands.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and integrate software applications for device management of sophisticated products in the Food Retail market.
  • Generate innovative solutions for industry initiatives implementing novel solutions to problems and opportunities.
  • Leverage knowledge of applications, patterns, and frameworks.
  • Plan, develop, and implement projects as a member of a cross-functional team collectively responsible for delivering new and effective weigh wrap products.
  • Work with service team to respond to customer requests and issues reported in product deployment.
  • Direct interface with customers to define and clarify requirements.


Qualifications
  • BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering (4-year degree)
  • Minimum 2 years software development with an object-oriented programming language (C++), Spring Boot, or Python scripting.
  • Basic understanding of web design, including HTML5 and CSS3
  • Solid understanding of wireless and wired networks and security.
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Highly initiative taking with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to organize time and projects efficiently.
  • Ability to learn and apply new ideas and concepts quickly.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively.
  • Customer interactions/presentation of technical information
  • 0-15% travel depending upon customer needs.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Linux command line, networking, and system administration
  • Linux programming to initiate and maintain wireless and wired network connections, MS Visual Studio experience
  • Qt5 graphical user interface development
  • Java application development
  • Familiarity with JavaScript and advanced JavaScript libraries/frameworks (i.e., ReactJS)
  • Familiar with use of the SVN version control system and Jira
  • Experience with development projects employing USB, i2c, SPI, RS422/485/232 protocols.
  • SQL Database development concentrated on query language, db. creation, and maintenance
