THE ROLE:

We are looking for a dynamic, energetic Senior Systems Software Engineer to join our growing team. As a key contributor to the success of AMD’s product, you will be part of a leading team to drive and improve AMD’s abilities to deliver the highest quality, power optimized, industry leading technologies to market. The Systems Software team fosters and encourages continuous technical innovation to showcase successes as well as facilitate continuous career development.

THE PERSON:

The ideal candidate possesses an innovative and problem-solving mindset, has a keen eye for Software engineering development, and is diligent and passionate about Technology. A successful candidate will need to employ strong knowledge in embedded systems, computer technologies, leadership skills in technical areas, and system software engineering expertise as well as a strong ability to compete effectively in a fast-paced, relevant environment while working with different teams of engineers and collaborators.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Architecture: Contribute to the architecture and design of the overall platform management solution of Xilinx platforms
  • Software Development: Develop linux user-space & kernel-space apps/drivers for platform management. Develop core firmware that is responsible for power & thermal management. Develop open-source tool to convert system device tree to firmware metadata
  • Quality: Develop software at high-quality with tests, develop firmware following functional safety processes
  • Upstreaming: Any kernel driver work will be upstreamed to linux kernel project
  • Collaboration: Work closely with design team, system architect, fpga design tool (Vivado) team and other teams across timezones to identify & solve problems
  • Ownership: Scope work and risks. Plan milestones & deliver high-quality work artifacts. Transparent in communication to all stakeholders
  • Business focus: Solve issues in platform management solution – pre-bring-up reviews, bring-up & continuous development & maintenance after customer deployment
  • Customer obsession: Responsible for working with internal & external customers and customer support teams for resolving critical customer escalations

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Expertise in C programming language
  • Hands-on experience with ARM SoCs and Embedded systems
  • Hands-on experience with bring-up & SoC boot flow
  • Hands-on experience with linux kernel-space, user-space driver & firmware development
  • Hands-on experience collaborating with design engineers
  • Previous experience with Xilinx SoC (Zynq, ZynqMP) and Vivado design tools will be strongly preferred
  • Some experience with python will be preferred

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • BS or MS in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or related equivalent

LOCATION: San Jose, CA

COMPENSATION:

Expected to range from $126,400 to $189,600, commensurate with experience and specific skill sets

At AMD, your base pay is one part of your total rewards package. Your base pay will depend on where your skills, qualifications, experience, and location fit into the hiring range for the position. You may be eligible for incentives based upon your role such as either an annual bonus or sales incentive.
