Job Description Summary

This professional will drive the development, assessment, recommendations, and implementation of continuous improvement/reengineering initiatives to simplify processes, eliminate waste, reduce operational risks, and achieve YOY cost efficiencies (Cost to Win). Additionally, this role is accountable for the development of a customer-focused CI framework, toolkit, and language to be deployed (based on LEAN, Six Sigma, and Business Process Modeling and Simulation methods). This includes the development of a common approach, vocabulary, and practices. This associate will drive these process improvement initiatives on the distribution floor as well as process changes that might be external to the Distribution center.
This role is within the BD Technology & Global Services organization. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Continuous Improvement and CAPEX.

Responsibilities:

The following duties and responsibilities are intended to be representative of the work performed by the incumbent(s) in this position and are not all-inclusive. The omission of a specific duty or responsibility will not preclude it from the position.

  • Builds and deploys Slotting strategies for the Line balance of the GDC and establishes a cadence for review and updates.

  • Partners with operations CI leader to develop a comprehensive CI framework and toolkit that aligns with BD’s customer experience strategy

  • Maintains and evolves the CI framework and toolkit as necessary to drive operational excellence.

  • Develops roles and responsibilities regarding process simplification, modeling, simulation and automation.

  • Defines and designs process automation components for re-use across the Distribution Center

  • Plans, supports and provides CI methodology training to associates including leading Kaizen and 4SPS events to improve efficiency.

  • Drives process documentation & tool standards to facilitate data mining, analysis, modeling and simulation; makes connections to various supporting technology roadmaps.

  • Identifies and works to remove barriers that slow or prevent the successful implementation and adoption of process simplification initiatives.

  • Builds capability and drives a team to conduct deep process analysis and assessment to identify a continuous backlog of opportunities across business units, regions, and functions; oversees staff of CI practitioners deployed in the global Service Delivery Centers

  • Demonstrates management courage to articulate risks and challenges of initiatives to executive management

  • Engages business units, regions, and functions through TGS business partners and maintains accountability for CI program delivery.

  • Leverages TGS business partners Identify and drive global execution of performance and process improvements to realize YOY process simplification improvement targets

  • Tracks the global CI program portfolio and implement any BDPS – BD production system initiatives

  • Must be able to work a flexible shift and weekends as business requirements dictate.

  • Responsible for following and monitoring/correcting associates in Good Documentation Practices (GDP) as outlined in the SOP and work instructions.

  • Must ensure safety first environment and be able to work diligently to maintain safe working conditions and adhere to proper operating practices and procedures designed to prevent injuries and illnesses.

  • Leverages TGS business partners Identify and drive execution of performance and process improvements to realize YOY process simplification improvement targets

  • Tracks the global CI program portfolio and implement any BDPS – BD production system initiatives

  • Own and drive Tiered Management Initiatives at the DC

  • Partners with operating units (BU, region, function) to define relevant process KPIs (including ownership of KPIs and variables that serve as KPI inputs)

  • Regular and reliable attendance at work.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Degree level qualification; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
