Requirements
Site Manager, Jumpstart Program - Center for Social Justice - Georgetown University
As a part of the country’s oldest Catholic and Jesuit university, the
Center for Social Justice (CSJ)
animates the University’s Jesuit values and mission through its work in research, teaching, and service. A component of the work includes that of CSJ’s signature, staff-led, mission-based programs, including those that use the pedagogies of community-centered, social justice immersion and experiential learning, and the direct service work of CSJ’s EngageDC programs, of which Jumpstart is a member.
Jumpstart is an EngageDC program at CSJ that provides early childhood language and literacy skills for pre-kindergarten students in Washington, DC. This grant-funded program applies the research-based curriculum from Jumpstart National Network and coordinates closely with Jumpstart DC and other affiliate programs in the DC area. The Georgetown program started at the Center for Child and Human Development in the late 2000s, and transitioned to CSJ in 2017.
Job Overview
The Site Manager of the Jumpstart Program is responsible for on-site coordination and preparation of program sites, overseeing 45 Georgetown student tutors and team leaders; and oversees the day-to-day operations of the Georgetown Jumpstart program in order to ensure that Jumpstart Quality Standards and guidelines are achieved and that the program is meeting grant requirements.
They recruit, train, and manage college volunteers and Federal Work-Study students serving as part-time AmeriCorps members to serve in the program; and encourage students to connect their service with what they are learning in the classroom by facilitating weekly reflection and dialogue.
They also participate in CSJ activities, including staff meetings, committees and cross-program collaborations; and have weekly, quarterly, and annual responsibilities reporting to the Jumpstart National Network.
Work Interactions
Due to contractual requirements from the program’s grant funding and to meet programming quality for Georgetown undergraduates and community youth, activities occur four to six days a week, often in the evening hours, during the academic year and summer terms.
Reporting to the CSJ Assistant Director for Educational Equity, the Site Manager coordinates The Jumpstart Program, one of six professionally-staffed signature programs (EngageDC) of the Center for Social Justice; and provide leadership and management to the program site implementation and student staff support and development.
