POSITION SUMMARY
This is a full-time temporary position with the potential to become full-time non-temporary. It only requires a Class C (regular) driver’s license and is located at our SW Portland location. We are looking for a trustworthy, dependable driver with a sense of humor and passion for helping people in our community lead more independent lives. This position will be responsible for shuttle service for seniors and people with disabilities. Duties include driving the Southwest RideAbout shuttle, medication and prescription deliveries, and pick-up and take-home for social and nutritional rides, personal needs and medical trips.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Driving Responsibilities:

  • Drive using all safe driving procedures as outlined by the organization.
  • Drive bus routes on a schedule that changes daily.
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip bus inspections.
  • Develop a positive, friendly relationship with customers.
  • Keep the bus clean daily, inside and out.

Administration Responsibilities:

  • Complete necessary paperwork on a timely basis.
  • Collect and process donations per Neighborhood House fundraising guidelines.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.

Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma and one (1) year paid driving experience; mini bus preferable; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have five (5) years of driving experience, and must produce safe driving record for the past five (5) years.
Successful experience working with older adults.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of individuals and groups that includes older adults and people with disabilities
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Good time-management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with individuals from diverse communities and cultures, including those whose English language skills are limited.
  • Experience and comfort with operating a large vehicle.
  • Excellent customer service and time-management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, and ability to communicate professionally with clients, families, service providers, community members and co-workers.
  • Ability to work with sensitive and confidential information.
  • Knowledge of the geographic area.
  • Must be able to speak and read English.
  • Ability to multitask and deal with distractions in the work environment.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to be insured by Neighborhood House.

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
