1. Work Year: 6 hours per day for 120 days or less during the 2022-23 school year. The exact number of days will depend on the start date of the chosen candidate.

3. Salary: $210.00 per day

JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE OF THE POSITION:

REPORTS TO:
Special Education Administrators

GENERAL DUTIES:

  • To assist in maintaining high quality services for staff, students, parents, and community members who utilize the services assigned to this position.
  • To assist immediate supervisor in carrying out the duties assigned to that position.
  • To strive for positive and collegial public relations with the staff, students, parents and community members.
  • To maintain confidentiality in all areas assigned to this position.
  • To assist administrative supervisors with paperwork and impedimenta so that they may devote maximum attention to the central problems of education and educational administration.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The candidate must have a Professional Educator License (PEL) with an endorsement in LBS I, LBS II, School Counseling, School Social Work, School Psychologist, or General Administrative.

Experience in a high school or post-secondary school setting preferred

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Possess the ability to speak clearly and be understood by others.
  • Possess the ability to write legibly.
  • Possess the ability and have received the training to effectively operate a computer, using a PC platform, at a level which would allow a candidate to pass a test administered for this position.
  • Possess the ability to demonstrate effective telephone skills and the ability to operate a modern phone system.
  • Demonstrate the ability to calmly address individuals using the services offered by the position.
  • Possess an acceptable attendance history in prior positions and demonstrate the ability to meet the daily attendance requirements of the designated position.
  • Possess a successful work history, supported by references, in a work setting similar to the position for which the candidate is applying.
  • Demonstrate the ability to practice confidentiality with sensitive information.
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills to assist in establishing a positive climate in the work environment.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as LEA Rep for district at annual review IEP meetings
  • Develop pre-IEP paperwork for annual review and progress review meetings (sign-in sheet, team-member excusal, etc.)
  • Provide clerical support for IEP teams during annual reviews and progress review meetings
  • Develop post-IEP paperwork for annual review and progress review meetings (meeting notes, finalized IEP, conference recommendations, etc.)
  • Ensure student data relating to special education is up-to-date in PowerSchool and other school and district utilized databases
  • Assist in the completion of SSI & DRS packets as needed
  • Monitor student data related to IEP compliance issues
  • Represent the district at IEP meetings for incoming 8th grade transition meeting
  • Process the mailing of IEP goals and objectives updates completed by Special Education Teacher, Speech Pathologists, and Social Workers (twice annually)
  • Arrange for and monitor accommodations for State Tests for eligible students
  • Ensure that student accommodations are available to appropriate staff
  • Assist in the placement of students in district and cooperative post-secondary transition programs
  • Other duties, as assigned by special education administration
