GZA employs approximately 700 engineers, scientists, and technical support staff in 30 offices in the United States. We provide a range of inter-related services focused on geotechnical engineering and the earth sciences, water resources/management, waste minimization/handling, strategic health/safety management and regulatory compliance.

GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (GZA) is currently seeking a Senior Level Wastewater / Process Engineer for our Bedford, New Hampshire office. The ideal candidate must be a highly motivated and independent self-starter with a client-oriented focus. This professional will focus on wastewater treatment design for a wide variety of industries, including treatability and pilot testing, troubleshooting, permitting, process design, preparation of construction plans and specifications, construction engineering, and commissioning services. Some travel and overnight stays may be required at times.

Primary responsibilities involve:

  • Technical project execution in the following regulatory program areas:
    • Industrial water/wastewater systems and process design experience, scoping and implementing industrial water/wastewater treatability and pilot studies
    • Industrial wastewater pretreatment
    • Design and specification development
    • Construction management
  • Project Management utilizing the Deltek project management software:
    • Manage project budgets and schedules
    • Track profitability, multiplier, and utilization
  • Business Development:
    • Prepare proposals for technical services
    • Attend professional networking events
    • Identify project opportunities
    • Make technical presentations for market visibility
    • Maintain active networking with existing and new clients
  • Technical Practice:
    • Maintain technical leadership for the practice area in the Bedford office
    • Drive technical development for market leadership
    • Identify areas for technical improvement and investment
  • Staff Development:
    • Integrate junior and mid-level staff into projects
    • Assist with the development of the technical skills of the staff
    • Mentor staff
  • Additional Duties:
    • Participate in the annual business planning for the Bedford office
    • Participate in monthly business development meetings and actions
    • Think creatively to advance the practice in the office
    • Apply innovative thinking to technical work
    • Keep abreast of emerging technologies

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental or Chemical Engineering (Master’s Degree a plus)
  • 7 years of relevant experience and knowledge in wastewater/process engineering
  • Professional Engineer or the ability to obtain licensure within 6 months of hire (ability to become licensed in various states, if necessary)
  • Demonstrated experience interacting effectively with clients
  • Proficiency with computer applications including process modeling, word processing, spreadsheets, and related applications (MS Office Suite)
  • Strong desire to assist in developing industrial water / wastewater business in the Northeast US
  • Ability to complete tasks independently and within a team
  • Exceptional professional judgment, consistency, and strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrate performance of analysis, problem solving, and strong organizational skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Experience preparing reports that demonstrate technical knowledge
  • Completed 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training (preferred)
