Real-time geospatial visualization of spectrum, including command and control of integrated platforms/sensors

  • Tools to collect, process, exploit, and disseminate large amounts of telemetry and sensor data
  • Immersive 3D scenario modeling for planning, analysis, and training
  • Open platform of APIs and services for desktop, mobile, and web applications to interface with devices such as radios and UAVs

Roles and responsibilities*

  • Architect, design, develop, document, test, and debug new and existing software systems and/or applications
  • Support onsite system integration and test at NBVC Pt. Mugu as required
  • Support system flight test events and military exercises as required
  • Participate in quarterly planning events
  • Participate as a primary voice in code reviews, constructively and humbly guiding/mentoring more junior developers
  • Identify and evaluate new technologies for implementation
  • Proactively and constructively advocate for improvement on behalf of the organization, your team, and yourself
  • Analyze user needs to determine technical requirements
  • Write technical specifications based on conceptual design and stated business requirements
  • Analyze code to find causes of errors/inefficiency and revise programs, as needed
  • Lead and mentor other engineers in meeting technical requirements
  • Continuously learn, grow, improve, and teach

Requirements
Necessary skills and experience

  • U.S. Citizenship - all positions require a U.S. Security Clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field
  • 10+ years of experience in programming, engineering, or related work
  • Proficient using Java 11+
  • Proficient using OSGi and Declarative Services
  • Experience working with embedded devices via Ethernet, serial, etc.
  • Proficient in version control systems, such as Git
  • Proficient using build tools, such as Gradle, Maven, dockerfile, etc.
  • Proficient with container-based software solutions such as Docker, containerd, podman, etc
  • Experience architecting software and distributed infrastructure, including documentation throughout all phases of design used to convey concepts to leadership, the team(s) implementing the design, and for final documentation
  • Experience as significant technical contributor for delivered products
  • Understanding of testing, continuous integration, build, deployment, and continuous monitoring
  • Experience driving technical decisions, including the ability to break down problems, identify solutions, and communicate the process and conclusions to an engineering team and/or senior leadership
  • Initiative and the ability to work independently and collaborate within a team
  • Ability to communicate effectively via multiple mediums and with management, co-workers, and customers, both technical and non-technical
  • Ability to lead a team of engineers in order to meet a project’s technical goals
  • Ability to write reusable, scalable, extendable, maintainable, and portable software
  • Ability to leverage best practices for implementation, documentation, and testing

  • Previous experience with the DDS messaging framework
  • Previous experience with Google Protobufs
  • Previous experience with ActiveMQ
  • Previous experience with software defined radios, GNU Radio, Redhawk, electronic warfare, signals processing/intelligence, and/or geospatial analytics/data/visualization
  • Previous experience working with RF related equipment such as signal generators, spectrum analyzers, etc.

  • Strong foundation in algorithms and data structures and their real-world use cases
