Position Summary:

The Senior Scientific Business Analyst is a critical role. This position will work with lab and operation team members, as well as company leadership, to understand end-to-end process workflows, the associated relevant products and product markets, identify and develop technical and financial models to support go-to-market and related strategic initiatives, and act as the facilitator between the Subject Matter Experts and the leadership team.

  • Review, analyze and capture technical systems and customer segment needs. Document requirements, define objectives and formulate models.
  • Develops close working relationships with cross-disciplinary teams to understand and document end-to-end process workflows and the supporting product applications.
  • Elicits requirements and acts as the facilitator between Subject Matter Experts and leadership team translating complex functional requirements into functional/technical/non-functional specifications.
  • Performs gap analysis and recommends solutions for customer segment users.
  • Contribute to process mapping in a range of functional dependencies, including operations, purchasing, inventory, distribution, equipment, data management, quality systems and facilities.
  • Develop base financial models for business based on customer segmentation opportunities, competitive analysis, and prioritized market gaps.
  • Prepares customer segment maps based on product features and benefits, competitive analysis, and other information.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Provides cross-functional support to leadership team and other departments as required.

The Ideal Candidate Would Possess:

  • Experience working in a reference laboratory and/or diagnostics company environment.
  • Experience supporting business and go-to-market solutions in a clinical, research or laboratory environment.
  • Experience working in a start-up environment and comfort with the occasional ambiguous assignment or task.
  • Experience as a Business Analyst for a V.C. firm specializing in biotechnology, life sciences or other scientific or healthcare related areas.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to drive change through stakeholder management, without confrontation.
  • Capacity to conceptualize and analyze creative solutions, document, and sell solutions to all levels of the organization, including senior management.
  • Ability to solve practical problems, define cause and effect, map dependencies in process.
  • Organized, detail oriented, analytical, curious, with demonstrated troubleshooting and investigation skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, multitask with organization and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to work independently with limited oversight, in a complex environment.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude, capacity for team environment, and exhibits a genuine interest in support of advancing human health and related environmental challenges.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in laboratory science, Bioengineering, Business Administration, Systems design or Management Information Systems, Life Sciences, or any other equivalent degree or experience;
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with competitive landscape analysis and business modeling, including requirement gathering, analysis/design, financial models, and pricing analysis.
  • Familiarity with business process design and improvement, in the scope of large systems implementation, preferably in a laboratory / diagnostics environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.S. in a biomedical or scientific field
  • Proficient in new product development systems and design controls
  • Regulatory Affairs Certified RAC (RAPS)
  • Certification of ISO13485 Lead Auditor Training

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
