Senior Quality Engineer


YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES


The primary responsibilities of this role, Senior Quality Engineer, are to:


  • Coordinates and conducts Health, Environmental, Safety, and Quality (HSEQ) activities at the site to meet the safety, environmental, production, quality, maintenance, and reliability goals to produce phosphorus which is the critical first step in glyphosate production;
  • Administer the site Management of Change (MOC) program to ensure Health, Environmental, Safety, and Quality (HSEQ) risks are carefully evaluated and controlled prior to implementing significant changes;
  • Administer the site Process Management File (PMF—this is our document system) to ensure that procedures and work instructions are documented, updated, and accessible;
  • Provide product quality support and technical guidance for quality activities across the Soda Springs site as required to meet legal and other requirements, including ISO/RC 14001, ISO9001, Corporate Health, Environmental, Safety, and Quality (HSEQ) Guidelines, and regional and global regulatory requirements;
  • Enable business response needs, including customer complaint and quality issue management, root cause investigation, relevant and timely communications to the appropriate stakeholders, and support final issue resolution;
  • Lead and supports Health, Environmental, Safety, and Quality (HSEQ) processes for Soda Springs site, including internal audits, trending of incidents and customer complaints, and monitoring of corrective/preventative actions program.
  • Foster an environment of continuous improvement through facilitation of the non-conformance process, including corrective and preventative action projects across the site (including mine and Rock Springs;)
  • Support product supply commitments to deliver the best customer experience by helping to ensure that specifications and procedures are properly maintained and executed;
  • Support preparation and presentation for Management Reviews;
  • Conduct training to facilitate ownership and understanding of applicable quality requirements and their criticality to successful operations;
  • Facilitate positive communications between the Plant Managers, the laboratory, and technical groups to ensure understanding and consistent application of quality processes;
  • Maintain effective working relationships with Soda Springs Operations, Production Planners, Corporate Health, Environmental, Safety, and Quality (HSEQ) functions, and Logistics.

Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related science field.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing process or Health, Environmental, Safety, or Quality role;
  • Knowledge of statistical methods, statistical process control (SPC), and design of experiments;
  • ISO Auditing experience;
  • Must have strong problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability in exercising independent judgment in sound decision making;
  • Ability to work at a detailed level while maintaining the overall business vision and objectives; highly effective organizational skills, strong communications skills (verbal and written;)
  • Ability to work with a range of personnel effectively (operators, engineers, leadership) are required. Must be proficient in Windows based programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.)

Position is located at the Bayer Crop Science Soda Springs, Idaho facility. Position is eligible for domestic relocation assistance.
