Leading teams of Test Automation Engineers, our leaders drive the delivery of high-quality features and functionality across Financials, HCM, Payroll, Spend Management, Higher Education and Talent applications.
Our Automation Managers collaborate with leaders across Development, Product Management and Quality Assurance in the planning, design, and execution of automation testing strategies, while promoting efficient processes and methodologies. About the Role
Workday is looking for an outstanding Senior Manager, Test Automation to join the Product Test Automation leadership team.
Responsibilities and objectives of the role are:
  • Define and implement the strategic vision for Test Automation using our best of breed proprietary Automation tools.
  • Lead, and mentor a diverse, globally distributed team of Test Automation Engineers specializing in the creation, curation, and maintenance of automated tests for the Workday Talent Products.
  • Implementation of our automation standards policies and processes in line with Workday's product development methodology and standards.
  • Apply your understanding of test automation and software engineering standard methodologies to impact design and implementation approaches.
  • Define uniform quality expectations by allocating and prioritizing Automation resources in an Agile environment.
  • Be highly engaged with multi-functional teams by building relationships, collaborating with, and influencing Development, Product Management, QA, Build Pipeline & DevOps teams.
  • Ensure our Build pipeline is operating as efficiently and effectively as possible.
  • Establish a culture that continuously strives towards standard processes, measurable outcomes, and operational excellence
  • Working towards achieving the established Success Metrics.

About You
Basic Qualifications:
  • 5+ years recent experience managing direct reports.
  • 2+ years’ experience of managing managers
  • 3+ years’ experience testing SaaS and/or cloud-based Enterprise applications like Workday
  • Strong technical background required. Must have prior programming experience and solid understanding of how to embed test automation in CI/CD pipelines. Must also have experience in all types of testing, including unit, integration, system, functional, non-functional and performance testing.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/ Engineering or equivalent work experience required.
Other Qualifications:
  • Candidates must possess an intense passion for automation and an “automation first” strategy.
  • Strong background in the design and architecture of automation solutions that enable a shared accountability in quality
  • Expertise with continuous integration systems that incorporate fast feedback mechanisms and quality metrics
  • Strong people management skills with a proven track record to hire, coach, and grow talent within your team(s).
  • Strong leadership, influence, and thought leadership skills
  • Must be an excellent communicator and represent the “voice of Quality”. Candidate should be comfortable holding all teams account for quality and articulating opportunities and/or concerns to upper management and collaborators across multiple Product Areas.
  • Able to deep dive into technical areas when needed but also up level communications to a broader audience.
  • Must be proficient with Atlassian tools like JIRA & Confluence.

Workday Pay Transparency Statement
The base pay range for the primary location of this job is listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants. Base Pay Min to Max Range: $170,500 - $256,000
