Position Overview
The Senior Manager, Change Management is responsible for leadership and best-practice insight to contribute to the development of change management strategy, methodology and build change capability across NorthShore University HealthSystem. The individual is a member of the central hub of expertise for the broader HealthSystem, developing change management framework, tools and programs. This role will lead the execution of change management practices in the highest prioritized strategic initiatives as well as lead change agents or change champions within projects assigned. This role serves as the change manager for key strategic initiatives. The Senior Manager, Change Management will partner with external consulting resources and have responsibilities for temporary/contracted change management consultant resources as needed.

The role does not supervise direct reports; however, will provide oversight and/or support for internal change champions, contracted change management consultants, and transformation management office consultants in their application of change activity.

This role reports directly to the newly established Change Management Center of Excellence Lead (a senior member of the Transformation Management Office) and will be a trusted advisor on assigned change initiatives spanning the organization’s most critical priorities (clinical, ambulatory, inpatient, corporate, technology, etc) helping to drive transformation across NorthShore.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and drive change management activities for key system-wide strategic initiatives (e.g., ERP deployment, organization integration, mergers and acquisitions)
  • Thought partner for system-wide change management methodology and approach
  • Utilize, adapt, and improve change management tools, processes, and collateral
  • Apply structured change management methodology to include:
    • Communication plans
    • Readiness assessment
    • Stakeholder analysis
    • Resistance management
    • Training and coaching plans
    • Additional Change Activity execution as identified
  • Partner with the Transformation Management Office on change initiatives and tools to integrate change management and project management disciplines
  • Partner with Center of Excellence Lead to develop change champions program to support change application throughout the business
  • Partner with Center of Excellence Lead to evaluate change management effectiveness through a data driven approach; establishing appropriate change metrics
  • Develop and direct network of change agents and change champions, strengthening change management capability across the system
  • Strategic partner to leaders and project teams, coaching them on executing change initiatives
  • Advise and coach executives and leadership team members to help them fulfill the role of change sponsors
  • Leads sponsor and stakeholder assessment and management through full change lifecycle
  • Partner with Center of Excellence Lead to conduct research and benchmarking analysis to identify innovations in change management practice
  • Identifies out of the box thinking and methods to overcome organization inertia, change saturation, and resistance to change

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in business, or related field required with a Master's degree preferred
  • 5+ years of change management and/or organizational development experience; preferably in healthcare
  • Prosci, LaMarsh, ACMP, or equivalent OCM certification
  • Demonstrated experience designing, developing, and delivering change management strategies for large scale transformations
  • Experience and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies and tools
  • Demonstration of flexibility and adaptability; able to work in ambiguous situations
  • Understanding of how people go through change and the change process
  • Ability to drive integration and change with a system mindset
  • Exceptional listening and written and verbal communications skills
  • Group dynamic and facilitation skills
  • Ability to clearly articulate and present messages to a variety of audiences
  • Strong collaboration and relationship management skills
  • Ability to work with and influence others toward a common goal
  • Demonstration of strong project management capabilities to take ideas to solutions
