Position Description
Will be supporting mission-critical systems hosted on physical and virtual servers in an active clustering environment. Job duties include:

  • Provide guidance and direction into the support of O&M activities and associated best practices.
  • Participate in systems engineering activities (in a support role) which include one or more of the following: Concept of Operations formulation, requirements definition, system analysis and design, validation and verification, system integration and, system performance analysis.
  • Manage and/or build RHEL 6, 7 & 8 development systems, physical and virtual
  • Manage RabbitMQ message-broker services
  • Manage on-prem Gitlab repository, Jira, Confluence systems
  • Support Gitlab Ci pipeline process
  • Provide general Linux user account support
  • Manage MongoDB, PostgreSQL with PostGIS, MySQL/MariaDB clustered & replicated database systems that support high traffic websites
  • Perform database backup and recovery
  • Monitors performance, and provide capacity planning and scaling guidance
  • Perform high end performance tuning for optimal applications and database performance
  • Work directly with developmental staff while implementing applications or packages
  • Maintains user security and overall application and database data integrity
  • Provide emergency after hours support for mission critical apps as required (24x7 on-call rotations)
  • Monitors system health and configurations in order to ensure system health and functionality as well as remediate problems/issues in a timely manner.
  • Ability to present to executive management incident debriefs and root cause analysis reports.
  • Must be familiar with source and artifact control, configuration and knowledge management.
  • Be a customer advocate by consistently meeting, exceeding expectations and incorporating customer service into all aspects of work.

Required Skills

  • 8+ years of operations experience in an enterprise setting, including demonstrated O&M experience (advanced troubleshooting, patching, hardening, etc.).
  • 8+ years of linux expertise leading to RHEL7 & 8
  • Extensive (5+ years) infrastructure and Linux/Unix based application support experience.
  • 3+ years of progressive VMware experience.
  • Able to perform rotational on-call support in a 24x7x365 operational environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities effectively.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident and be able to pass a background investigation to obtain a security badge to enter the applicable government facility.
Education
BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, related discipline, or equivalent.
