HCA Solutions is currently seeking qualified Level II Licensed Practical Nurses for the Federal Correctional Complex Coleman 846 NE 54th Terrace, Coleman, Florida 33521. FCC Coleman has five different institutions: Camp, Low, Medium, USP 1, and USP 2. This will be a contract position, considered Full Time, Monday through Friday. Will not exceed 35 hrs/week. Typical working hours would be 8a - 330p with 1/2hr unpaid lunch.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Collect, package and ship blood specimen to referral laboratories with knowledge of maintaining appropriate records
  • Possess knowledge and the ability to appropriately carry out assigned patient care based on the patients' conditions and use sound judgment in selecting the appropriate order and sequence of procedures and treatments; accurately recognize, report and record relevant patient information. Completed work should need only a general review by a registered nurse or physician for appropriateness and conformity with established policies/procedures.
  • Prepare and administer prescribed medications (oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular and/or intravenous) and perform treatments according to established policies/procedures. Observe physical and/or emotional changes in patient's condition from prescribed medications/treatments. Promptly and accurately document noted changes, and report any deviations from normal to RN or MD.
  • Have the ability to observe, identify and respond to the patient's needs for care, including medication, equipment-assisted care and patient/family education.
  • Recognize and consider emotional, cultural, spiritual, socio-economic, and age-related factors as care is delivered
  • Have knowledge and the ability to recognize urgent or emergent patient care situations, seek assistance of the RN and/or MD, and initiate appropriate emergency interventions as directed.
  • Have knowledge and skill in performing support duties for complex diagnostic tests and/or specialized practices or procedures, which include preparing the patient, assisting in the diagnostic examination, preparing and handling specialized instruments or other specialized equipment, and monitoring the patient's condition before, during and following the procedure. Serve as a preceptor in orienting, education, and training less experienced LPNs or NAs related to support duties for these more complex, specialized tests/procedures.
  • Conduct pill line (medications distribution).
  • Prepare and administer medications, including by intramuscular, intradermal, and subcutaneous injections—including vaccinations/immunizations, as directed by a physician or other licensed provider (e.g., a nurse practitioner or physician assistant)
  • Transmit prescription refills as directed
  • Medical orders such as take electrocardiograms, wound care and changing dressings, obtain vitals, fecal occult testing, rapid and PCR test such as COVID, HIV, etc.
  • Perform administrative duties (may include, but not limited to), answering telephones, welcoming patients, updating and filing patient medical records, coding and filling out BOP forms, scheduling appointments, arranging for hospital admissions (medical paperwork for trip) and laboratory services; handling correspondence, billing, and bookkeeping as determined by Health Services policies and Health Services Administrator (HSA).
  • After BOP training: LPNs, understand, and consistently comply with BOP information security policies, procedures, rules and regulations such as: Reporting known or suspected incidents immediately to the Information Security Officer. Using BOP computers only for lawful and authorized purposes. Not installing unauthorized software on the computer. Handling, storing, and disposing of sensitive information safely.
  • Not e-mailing sensitive information. Comply with safeguards, policies, and procedures to prevent unauthorized access to BOP computer systems. Comply with terms of software licenses and only using BOP-Licensed and authorized software.
Requirements:

Required credentials for LPN positions:

  • Current CPR certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
  • Current, unencumbered applicable professional LPN license
  • Minimum of 6mths of experience
  • (3) Letters of Reference
  • Current TB test, within the past year
  • Current proof of all Vaccinations to include Covid, if available
