Senior-Level System Administrator


Job Summary:


The Senior System Administrator position is a part of a team that provides full-time systems administration support and engineering services to a variety of systems. The team works together to perform system installation, set-up, administration, maintenance, troubleshooting, training, and user support to customer supplied systems. This includes logging, tracking, and monitoring health of systems, local and remote servers and workstations, respective satellite site equipment, and their Local Area Network (LAN)/Wide Area Networks (WANs). In addition, the System Administrator will integrate and support associated feeder systems, as needed, to required external systems, services, and inputs.

Duties and Responsibilities:


Responsible for the effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, setup, training, troubleshooting, user support, and maintenance of system hardware and software, and related infrastructure. The Systems Administrator shall also:

  • Participate in technical research and development (R&D) discussions/activities to enable continued innovation;
  • Ensure system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures, adhere to organizational standards
  • Perform general Local Area Network/Wide Area Network (LAN/WAN) management;
  • Be accountable for administering both Microsoft Windows Systems/Domains, Linux servers; and
  • Provide support of Storage Area Network (SAN) products.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Position contingent upon ability to obtain poly
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or relevant engineering discipline. In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, four years of relevant technical work experience may be substituted.
  • Experience in program/project management and technical leadership; experience as a technical expert across multiple projects
  • Experience logging, tracking, monitoring and troubleshooting systems, local and remote desktops, regional/satellite site equipment, and their Local Area Network (LAN)/Wide Area Network (WAN);
  • Experience in enterprise computer-based systems and applications with the ability to manage software applications, replace hard drives, memory modules, motherboards, power supplies, network equipment, etc.
  • Experience with optimizing system operation and resource utilization, performing system capacity analysis and planning, resolving performance problems with the servers and networks
  • Experience in day-to-day administration and operation of complex networked computer-based systems distributed across geographic regions
  • Experience in 24/7/365 technical support and dedicated customer service to ensure efficient and reliable productivity to meet mission needs
  • Experience using Storage Area Networks (SAN)/Redundant Array of Independent Disks (RAID) and various types of removable storage media
  • Effective verbal and written communications; strong teamwork skills; and excellent interpersonal skills which are essential to relate with technically trained personnel.

Preferred:

  • Technical Certifications such as Microsoft Certified Professional; Linux Professional Institute (LPI), Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA®) or Engineer (RHSE®); or Cisco (Professional or Expert).

Educations & Experience Requirements:


Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or relevant engineering discipline. In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, four years of relevant technical work experience may be substituted.


Minimum Years of Experience: Twelve (12) or more years of systems administration experience supporting both Windows and Linux operating systems, Windows Active Directory domain, and enterprise virtualization for desktops and servers.


Clearance Requirements:

Active Top-Secret clearance; eligible for SCI access
