Description of Position:

GZA is seeking a team oriented Senior GIS Manager that will provide oversight, management, guidance, and leadership for Esri ArcGIS Technology and support GIS Practitioners across the organization to leverage GIS to creatively problem solve, manage data, conduct analysis, and produce maps and mapping web applications in support of Core Services and Technical Practice. This position reports to the Chief Information Officer as a member of Corporate IT. The position focuses on a candidate with the ability to work independently and in a project team with demonstrated excellence in written and oral communications, presentations, analytical skills, professional judgment, and team building skills. This position requires 8 to 10 years of experience with Esri ArcGIS Technologies.


Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the maintenance and management of GZA’s ArcGIS Enterprise Base Deployment;
  • Collaborate with fellow IT staff and Lead GIS Practitioners to provide guidance and oversight for the management of spatial data assets within the organization;
  • Provide oversight and guidance on the design, development, maintenance, and support of custom web mapping applications, dashboards, widgets, print services and mobile tools;
  • Provide oversight on map production including developing templates and identifying opportunities for automation and efficiencies;
  • Support interoperability between GIS, AutoCAD, EQuIS and other specialized software / data services;
  • Ensure best practices and most appropriate GIS technologies are in use, including staying up to date on GIS industry standards, tools, and Esri technology releases;
  • Collaborate to drive the planning and scoping of GIS initiatives, GIS projects, and GIS team processes and roadmap;
  • Manage GIS related contracts and vendors;
  • Contribute to ensuring data integrity across the organization;
  • Manage internal ArcGIS platform user support and engagement; and
  • Perform other duties and special requests, as assigned by Management.

Skills/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a major in Geography, GIS, Information Systems, Information Technology, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or another related field;
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience using and administrating Esri’s ArcGIS technology suite, required;
  • Proficiency in Esri’s ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Server, Portal, Data Stores, Web GIS, Mobile GIS, ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Online, required;
  • Experience administrating ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online, required;
  • Experience authoring, updating, and managing web services, web maps and mapping applications using ArcGIS Enterprise and Online, required;
  • Data management experience (File and Enterprise Geodatabase (SQL Server) model, required;
  • Experience supporting a GIS Users Community required;
  • Experience in a consulting environment, required;
  • Team player attitude and mentality, required;
  • GISP Certification, highly preferred
  • Programing language fluency (such as Python, JSON, JavaScript), highly preferred;
  • Experience with mobile GIS/GPS tools including Survey123, ArcGIS Field Maps, QuickCapture, Trimble GNSS GPS (R1/R2, DA2) highly preferred;
  • Experience scripting and automating, preferred;
  • Understanding of the AutoCAD data model, preferred;
  • High proficiency in communication, technical writing/documentation, oral, and cartographically – the ability to convey spatial information to non-GIS user is essential;
  • Must be able to troubleshoot problems and find solutions independently. Critical thinking and creative ingenuity are essential;
  • Must have initiative, problem-solving skills, and ability to work efficiently and effectively alone or with a team;
  • High degree of professionalism and conduct at all times;
  • Able to multi-task, set priorities, meet deadlines;
  • Confidence and ability to interact with people at all levels of the organization;
  • Microsoft Office Suite (including SharePoint and Teams) advanced proficiency, required; and
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving dynamic, environment.
