Summary:

The Senior Director (SD), Worldwide Value & Access - Early Assets (EA) & Business Development (BD) will serve as a therapy area lead and as a principal market access strategist for early clinical and business development opportunities within the WW VAP EA & BD team. The SD will lead the EA & BD process across WW VAP & HEOR and provide quality access input and timely response to the BD requests whilst supporting prioritized early assets in the relevant therapy area. The SD will provide access input, primarily but not limited to cardiovascular, fibrosis, immunology, and neurology (CFIN), earlier and in a systematic way in the governance process to maximize the value of the BMS portfolio and life cycle. The SD will lead and develop comprehensive early pricing and markets access strategies to determine where to play and how to win in the context of evolving drug pricing reforms & high level of uncertainty. The SD will inform the future disease strategy for new compounds from the BMS portfolio specified therapy area and pipeline by ensuring optimal clinical development strategies (such as appropriate endpoints &trial design) and developing a set of mitigation activities and data generation plan to address key Access challenges pre-identified. The SD will report into the Executive Director, Worldwide Value & Access for Early Assets & Business Development and will join a highly professional and motivated team who’s constantly looking for ways to further support the of the business franchises.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as therapy area lead within WW VAP BD & EA CFIN team and manage a team of directors

  • Develop clear and cohesive Market Access strategy to optimize value of pipeline & BD programs and overall portfolio leveraging the EA and BD frameworks for BMS that defines the process for developing early asset access strategies and BD opportunities

  • Focus on strategic governance milestones (GT3, strategic check-in, G4, and the transition process to GT5) leveraging the EAR (Early Access Review) Checklist/Framework

  • Leading and executing VAP business development due diligence assessments levering the DEAL (Diligence for Early assets Acquisitions and Licensing) Framework

  • Drive the development of future VAP strategies for new compounds, ensure optimal clinical development strategies are being assessed and define a set of mitigation activities and evidence generation plan to address key market access and pricing challenges

  • Fielding EA and BD requests from Executive Director and matrix partners and delegating activities to directors for execution

  • Build and establish internal relationships and enhance interactions with stakeholders in both field based functional market roles as well as senior and executive worldwide management

  • Monitor the evolving external Market Access environment to ensure VAP considerations are included in the clinical development program and protocol design (E.g., relevant endpoints, comparator, dosing, study population, subpopulation of interest) as well as the leading the development of mitigation activities across the matrix

  • Influence across the enterprise, creating effective and sustainable relationships within the matrix and positively inform strategic development and commercialization decisions

  • Lead broader VAP activities to help inform the EA and BD requests from matrix partners in close collaboration with key partners across the matrix

  • The position is cross-functional in nature and is part of a highly matrixed organization where the Senior Director will partner with cross-functional VAP/HEOR teams as well as with extended team (Including but not limited to Commercial, Medical, Biomarker, Regulatory, Clinical, Advocacy, Policy, Business Insights & Analytics WW leads) and relevant individual market stakeholders across the world

  • Create propositions to optimally position BMS products for success in an increasingly challenging and evolving WW access landscape

  • Ensure that all recommended VAP activities comply with regulatory agencies, public policies/guidelines, and with corporate/legal policies and procedures

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degree in a healthcare, business, or economic field preferred

  • Minimum of 15 years’ Market Access experience with an exceptional track record in Market Access, Pricing or HEOR in WW and/or local markets

  • Strong understanding of the current and emerging global Market Access environment in our therapeutic areas of interest with experience in taking multiple products to market and developing HTA strategies

  • Highly specialized technical expert, highly specialized Market Access, Pricing and Reimbursement expertise, knowledge of rapidly emerging HTA systems and data requirements

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the drug development & commercialization process, HTA assessment methodologies, global reimbursement environment, and regulatory requirements an in-depth understanding of payers and their perspective in the key WW markets

  • Solid scientific background, preferably within cardiovascular, fibrosis, immunology, and neurology (CFIN), enabling the assessment of trial design impact on payer strategies and the ability to challenge clinical development or medical affairs or other relevant stakeholders with the ability to identify relevant clinical endpoints and plan for outcomes research in the early phases of clinical trial development

  • Strong project management abilities (contracting, budgeting, vendor management) essential

  • Proven ability to identify key product advantages in the context of evolving market requirements and provides key ideas for developing individual value stories around BMS products

  • Excellent strategic thinking and written/oral communication skills in English required

  • Demonstrated ability to formulate future Market Access strategy scenarios and lead cross-functional teams, with or without formal authority, and to act on these scenarios with competing deadlines, and rapidly shifting priorities

  • Proven ability to translate scientific/clinical value into market access strategies and economic value

  • Demonstration of all BMS Core Behaviors

The starting compensation for this job is a range from $202,000 - $254,000, plus incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility).

The starting pay takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills and where the job is performed. Final, individual compensation is decided based
on demonstrated experience.
