About the Department/Unit

Through services including on-campus housing, residential programs, involvement opportunities, and off-campus resources, our goal is to allow students to focus on their education in and out of the classroom. We strive to create meaningful student experiences in the residence halls and on-campus while encouraging students to learn and grow together in community.

Summary/Objective

The Senior Associate Director of Housing Operations is responsible for the management and supervision of all residence hall and department operated facilities, vendor/rental/sustainable programs for residence hall students including assessment and new ventures. The Senior Associate Director will supervise a team that oversees a range of operations from room/building readiness to room setups. The incumbent coordinates residence hall maintenance, facilities related customer service, inventory, room readiness, renovations and new construction including all general residence hall furnishings and equipment across campus. This position maintains appropriate vendor/supplier contact and product/service information, including costs, warranties, contracts, and service agreements. The Senior Associate Director coordinates the contracting of external vendors who provide services to on and off-campus facilities and students including laundry, rental programs, appliance repair, etc. Overall, this position ensures the operation effectiveness of HRL in relation to the facilities side. This can be viewed through rooms are ready to be occupied, working relationships with campus and external partners, and communication with students and families related to facilities related topics.

Essential Functions

  • Residential Facility Planning and Improvements
    Serves as the lead person for all Residential Facilities operations. This is including: being a liaison to Facilities Management, Housekeeping and the Office of Sustainability.
  • Staff Supervision
    Directly supervise 1 full-time staff, the Assistant Director for Housing Operations and oversee the Residential Facilities team. Provides indirect supervision of all Housing & Dining Programs full time staff in relation to facility improvements/new constructions and accountability.
  • Leadership of Vendor Relationships
    Responsible for the supervision of all rental/vendor and contract services for residence hall students. Develops and promote marketing efforts for all vendor services.
  • Housing Operations
    Participates in weekly Housing and Residence Life staff meetings and other department committees. Serves as leader and participant on a variety of university and department committees.
  • Coordinates Departmental Sustainability Efforts and Initiatives
    Serves as the lead liaison with the Office of Sustainability to ensure departmental and residence hall compliance with university wide environmental sustainability protocol and programs. Ensures environmentally responsible products and services are considered in building maintenance, renovations, and new construction.
  • Residential Facility Planning and Improvements
    Serves as leadership liaison to Facilities Planning and Development. Coordinate all residence hall renovations, extended maintenance, and all new construction for the department, ensuring residential facilities improvements, considers student development theory, purchasing and deployment and make recommendations for long and short-term needs

Supervisory Responsibility

  • This position supervises 1 full-time staff, the Assistant Director of Housing Operations, as well as provides indirect supervision on facilities functions 3 full time facilities team members.
  • The incumbent coordinates residence hall maintenance, renovation and new construction including all general residence hall furnishings and equipment across 12 buildings with 4,300 beds.

Work Environment

  • May require non-traditional hours during peak operational periods.

Salary Range

  • Commensurate with experience.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required with 4 years of relevant work experience in a professional office setting or the equivalent in experience or training.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.), and database management applications, such as StarRez Housing Software highly desirable.
