Worthington Industries Consumer Products Marketing Team is looking for a pro-active, thoughtful, and creative Sr. Copywriter to join our team with a primary focus on crafting copy to help shape and maintain brand voice for multiple retail products brands. By focusing on copy for digital, print, product descriptions, e-commerce, and social media, the copywriter will help bring the brand narrative to life. Successful candidates will bring a positive attitude and can thrive in a fast-paced work environment to support marketing, commercial and product development projects.
The Copywriter should have excellent writing skills and the ability to craft compelling copy. The best candidate will help build on the brand strategy by relying on previous copywriting experience to engage audiences in a variety of ways. Acting as the voice of the brand, it is imperative the candidate demonstrates an ability to quickly digest and understand the multiple brands in the Consumer Products Group, while conveying clear messaging through both short and long-form copy that will reach consumers through several channels. Candidate should be comfortable receiving feedback and collaborating with team members across multiple departments.
**This role will support the CPG brands within our niche end market within our Consumer Products business. We are seeking someone with copywriting experience within retail and CPG companies.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Write SEO optimized content for use on E-Commerce platforms such as The Home Depot.com, Amazon, Lowes.com and owned platforms
  • Partner with the E-commerce team to regularly review copy performance providing regular copy updates for A/B testing, campaigns, promotions and other initiatives
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions with the creative team as well as cross-functional partners to arrive at creative concepts that inspire consumers, fulfill each brand promise, and meet the needs of the business
  • Create copy style guides and make continual improvements to copy quality and the content development process. Participate in the development of verbal brand audits for each brand.
  • Collaborates with creative team, E-commerce team, brand marketing team, engineering, and external agencies to drive consistent quality, voice, and style for copy across all digital, print and touchpoints for multiple brands
  • Possess a thorough understanding of online editorial best practices and priorities including SEO, brand messaging, usability and accessibility
  • Manage multiple projects from concept to completion on varying timelines while communicating project status to managers, teammates, and stakeholders
  • Present work to team members and leadership cross-functionally.
  • Leverage a proactive, detail-oriented mindset to gather information, integrate feedback, and keep work moving from first draft to final approval.
  • Partner with Brand and Creative teams to maintain a consistent brand voice throughout all marketing efforts.
  • Understand and effectively communicate to the consumer our product features, benefits, technologies and usages.
  • Differentiate products through effective product-specific copy.
  • Use correct spelling, grammar, punctuation and structure throughout all materials created.
  • Remain current on industry trends and technology and understand consumer research.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5-7+ years of retail, agency or related digital copywriter experience, with a portfolio dedicated to concise communication and inspiring editorial ideas.
  • Experience with creating digital customer experiences with the ability to distill complex ideas and objectives into clear, concise creative
  • Proven experience writing for different audiences in different voices.
  • Fluency in current advertising creativity, writing, strategy, design, and culture trends expected.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices for digital copywriting in an agile environment, including UX collaboration, SEO, product description writing, and accessibility
  • Ability to multi-task, self-manage multiple projects, meet fast-paced deadlines, and adapt to quickly shifting priorities
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment
  • Retail and/or journalism experience is preferred
  • Strong editing and proofreading skills with demonstrated attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus
