SENIOR CAD DESIGNER

REPORTS TO: CAD Lead

LOCATION: Des Moines, IA

POSITION OVERVIEW

As a CAD Designer, you will design innovative and customized products that are manufactured on-site in our facility. You will also be responsible for training, checking work, and collaboration on product improvements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Draw/Design in CAD (CREO & AutoCAD)
• Create 3D solid models of all products
• Create layout drawings, weldments, and assemblies for all manufactured products
• Interpret customer specifications to formulate a design solution
• Provide production support regarding drawings/designs
• Understand manufacturing capabilities and design products to suit
• Design new products given the proper scope of work
• Create layout drawings, weldments, and assemblies for all manufactured products
• Work with Structural Engineers to address project structural requirements
• Work with our manufacturing team to improve and enhance product manufacturability
• Make Engineering Change Notices (ECNs)
• Review accuracy of drawings
• Provide CAD training to new hires
• Follow internal QC procedures
• Meet project deadlines

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

• Associate degree in CAD or related field and 5 years related work experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Proficiency in 3D modeling software (Creo preferred) and 2D AutoCAD
• Strong visualization skills, with ability to understand the assembly of a product and see the finished product
• Ability to read prints is essential
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Attention to detail
• Strong mechanical aptitude/interest
• Good verbal and written communications skills
• Must be a team player and good collaborator
• Ability to optimize designs to capitalize on manufacturing strengths.
