PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Hiring salary for this position is $73,881.89 - $92,352.36 annually.
The Benefits Analyst Senior serves as a lead over the Benefits division and provides exceptional customer service, analytical problem-solving skills, ability to draw conclusions, and has a thorough knowledge of leave administration and disability, Federal and State regulatory laws. This position will serve as the lead project manager on select projects, interface with vendors and key clients internally and externally, create client deliverables, and ensure quality standards are met. As a senior level, will also supports regular processes and possesses expert knowledge of subject matter.
  • Interpret human resources policies and procedures; educate and train employees and managers on policy and legal compliance regarding leaves of absence.
  • Analyze benefit and demographic data to create reporting and dashboards for HR leadership. Make recommendations based on data findings.
  • Oversee and maintain benefit-related updates in Workday to include troubleshooting business process deficiencies, updating rates and benefit plans, and finding system enhancements.
  • Leads process developments and improvements.
  • Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to colleagues in division.
  • Serve as a lead over the Benefits teams by providing day-to-day team support and effectively addressing escalated benefit inquiries and concerns from employees and retirees.
  • Consult with supervisors regarding benefits related issues, needs, and services; counsel employees on benefit programs, policies and processes; explain program provisions, procedures, and eligibility requirements; and assists employees with forms and documents.
  • Lead open enrollment activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business/public administration, or related field.
Experience:
  • At least 5 years in the human resources profession.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Preference will be given to those who have performed with a focus in the areas of compensation and leave administration in the public sector.
Abilities:
  • Knowledge of human resources processes and procedures; personal computer and related software applications including word processing, data base and spreadsheet applications.
  • Ability to analyze data and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, citizens and managers
  • Handle sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy
  • Make accurate arithmetic calculations and keep detailed records
  • Set priorities and work with minimal supervision
  • Interact knowledgeably with staff and the public in person and by phone
Skills:
  • Strong interpersonal and customer services skills.
Essential Personnel:
  • When a local announcement of emergency or disaster is declared by the City, all City of Aurora employees may be required to work as essential personnel.
Physical Demands:
  • Sedentary physical work lifting no more than 10 pounds
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, walking and standing
  • Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate personal computer and office equipment
  • Vision for reading, recording and interpreting information
  • Speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens
Work Environment:
  • Works primarily in clean, comfortable environment.
Equipment Used:
  • Frequently uses standard office equipment including personal computers, calculators and copy/fax machines.
  • This position may require the incumbent to use personal equipment (e.g., vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment.
