Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Archaeological Project Manager to work out of one of our Northern California Offices (Sacramento or Bay Area/Walnut Creek). The Senior Archaeological Project Manager will work closely with Office Principals, Principal Investigators, Subject Matter Experts, Field and Laboratory Directors, and our Technology Team to deliver high-quality products that exceed client expectations. Job duties include the following:
  • Develop proposals and budgets for new opportunities
  • Manage all aspects of projects with direct accountability
  • Ensure efficient execution of projects from start to finish
  • Develop internal communication strategies to ensure communication between various departments within the organization
  • Guide and direct field team members to ensure compliance with set standards, procedures, and policies
  • Proactively communicate and collaborate with clients to analyze information, needs, and functional requirements for assigned projects
  • Use project and implementation processes to achieve successful completion of all projects
Hire Type: Full-time (Salaried)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, normal business hours
Location: Sacramento or Bay Area, California
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in anthropology, archaeology, or a closely related field is preferred
  • 5+ years of demonstrated professional experience working on and leading archaeological projects
  • Experience with the archaeology of California
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations and guidelines pertaining to cultural resources
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience managing archaeological projects, including preparing budgets and proposals, keeping projects within budget and on schedule, and consulting with clients and agencies
  • Demonstrated experience writing and preparing cultural resource technical reports
  • Demonstrated experience in business development
Preferred Skills
  • Graduate degree in anthropology, archaeology, geology, paleontology, history, or a closely related field strongly preferred
  • Leadership abilities including guidance and oversight of field and office staff
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Commitment to achieving team goals
  • Client management skills
  • Ability to lead and inspire teams
