ECHO is adding to our Finance Team! We are looking for a Senior Accountant - Internal Controls. The Senior Accountant will focus on improvements specifically in JSOX compliance.

This is a hybrid position that will offer the flexibility of working from home and on-site at our Lake Zurich facility.

Senior Accountant Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Lead controls readiness, testing and JSOX assessments, review risk and control structure.
  • Conduct process walkthroughs to evaluate design and perform key controls testing to determine effectiveness of internal controls.
  • Work closely with process owners to ensure corrective action plans are in place to remediate gaps or deficiencies, recommend process improvements.
  • Perform follow up audits to ensure remediation of findings and report the status of remediation efforts.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally, both in writing and verbally, with management, team members, and external auditors.
  • Lead ad hoc projects – identify risks, execute and document business processes, conduct walkthroughs, and report and present findings, including making recommendations on improving processes and mitigating risks.
  • Administer and execute part or all of certain financial and operational audits.
  • Provide training and education to process owners around SOX topics: sufficiency of control evidence, management review controls, IPE, etc.
  • After Year 1 responsibilities could expand to include:
    • Execution of traditional internal audit projects (financial, operational, and IT).
    • Participation in enterprise risk assessment.
    • Identify process improvement opportunities.

Senior Accountant Job Experience/Skills:

  • 3+ years of experience in internal audit, external audit, risk management, and/or compliance either in public accounting or in internal audit.
  • Knowledge of nuance of JSOX (versus SOX)
  • Willingness or ability to learn and work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively with a team.
  • Project management, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead a team cross-functionally and achieve results through others.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, risk management, or a related field. CPA or CIA a plus.
