Responsibilities

The Security Officer helps to provide a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff of Virginia Mason.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required. Basic certification through the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) required within three months of position entry; Advanced certification required within six months of position entry. Also required is a demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Strong problem solving ability, willingness to challenge individuals and defuse situations in a polite and professional manner. Must be willing to work directly with those in a crisis situation. Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work well with people from diverse backgrounds, and the ability to remain courteous and considerate while working in a demanding and stressful situation. Candidates must be at least 21 years of age, and have a valid Washington State Driver's License with a five-year clean driving record, for auto liability coverage through Virginia Mason Medical Center.

Preferred: 2 years uniformed officer or guard experience in a healthcare setting or an Associate's degree in Criminal Justice.
