Job Description Summary
The Security Manager (SM) works in conjunction with the Director of Rooms to ensure the continuity of operation of the department and works in the development and training of all security personnel. The Security Manager is responsible for performing hotel security functions, to include but not limited to fire prevention, safety, investigation and resolution of guest and employee complaints regarding safety and security matters and is directly responsible for keeping hotel secure

Essential Elements:
  • Ability to adhere to Sonesta Hotel grooming standards.
  • Ability to understand and execute all safety and emergency procedures, (for example: fire, crowd control, inclement weather, and bomb threats.)
  • Ability to understand and operate emergency equipment, (for example: respirators, wheelchairs, and fire extinguishers.)
  • Always maintain a high standard of integrity and ethics. Maintain a conduct of confidentiality in all security issues and investigations and follow Sonesta’s “See Something, Say Something” directive.
  • Ability to sustain direct contact with the public; must establish high degree of customer service (smile, eye contact, positive personal presentation, etc.), and high-volume interaction with guests and staff.
  • Ability to interview, train, direct, supervise, evaluate, and motivate third party security when needed.
  • Conduct monthly Employee Safety Meetings and follow through with action items.
  • Maintain and update Security Monthly Activity & Statistical Report.
  • Assist with the maintenance and revision of Training Manuals and programs and conduct staff trainings as needed
  • Check and monitor time and attendance daily of security personnel.
  • Complete, file and maintain all Security Incident and Supplemental Reports.
  • Maintain, revise, and keep current all security forms and documents
  • Report and copy all guest & visitor claim reports to the hotel’s Claim Adjusters.
  • Patrol property, including public areas, guest floors, employee areas.
  • Monitor surveillance cameras.
  • Challenge suspicious people.
  • Dispatch security assignments.
  • Prepare, maintain, and distribute all hard and soft master keys.
