Job Description
The City of Monroe is currently recruiting for a Seasonal Wastewater Treatment Plant Laborer. The position will be full time and last for up to 5 months. Assist with operation and maintenance of the City's WWTP and pump stations. Duties include washing basins, cleaning tanks, painting, sweeping surfaces, pump maintenance, emptying containers of trash and screenings.
This position is PERS eligible. Other benefits include sick leave accrual. Job Responsibilities
100.00% -

Maintain City infrastructure including basins, tanks, water system appurtenances, sanitary sewers, stormwater installations, and facilities.

Operate power driven machinery, such as jack-hammers, tampers, brush maintenance machinery and other similar equipment.

Move debris, dirt or other material from one place to another.

Maintain grounds and facilities on right-of-ways, stormwater drainage infrastructures, and city property.

Repair asphalt and concrete surfaces.

Perform routine maintenance and servicing of equipment.

Assist with water meter related tasks using various methods.

Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.

Perform other duties as directed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
WWTP Seasonal -
Ability to independently work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the elements.
Ability to operate equipment such as pick-ups, power lawn mowers, weed trimmers, paint sprayers, pressure washers and various pieces of related maintenance equipment.
Ability to perform basic routine maintenance on equipment standard to areas of assignment and to adapt to new and/or modified equipment which may be acquired.
Knowledge of proper safety policies and procedures, and work in a safe manner.
Ability to complete various activities and projects with changing priorities and coordinate equipment use.
Ability to maintain a high standard for completeness and ensure efficient use of materials, facilities, and time.
Ability to develop and sustain positive working relationships with all city staff.
Ability to respond to the public, in general, in a courteous manner.
Ability to remain calm in stressful situations, relate to various personality styles in a calm, courteous manner.
Ability to effectively communicate with others, both in writing and orally.
Physical Requirements
~ Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 80 pounds.
~ Ability to maneuver over rough, uneven, wet or slippery surfaces.
~ Ability to climb ladders.
~ Ability to reach, crouch, turn/twist, and stand for extended periods of time.
~ Ability to reach overhead or above the shoulders.
~ Ability to push or pull objects.
~ Ability to speak and hear to exchange information.
~ Manual dexterity to operate equipment and hand tools. Minimum Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include high school diploma or GED
Valid Washington State Driver's license
minimum age of 18.
