Seasonal Landscaper/ Groundskeeper Job at The Front Climbing Club

Do you love bringing and greenery to urban environments? Taking the city and making it, well, pretty? We are seeking a talented landscaper/groundskeeper to help us keep our facilities in the Salt Lake area looking top-notch.

You'll have the opportunity to work in a fun and dynamic environment alongside other outdoor enthusiasts - helping maintain our outdoor spaces and ensuring they remain vibrant, functional and aesthetically pleasing for our members and guests.

The ideal candidate will have experience in landscaping, horticulture or related fields, as well as a strong attention to detail and passion for what they do. We're looking for someone who is reliable, hard-working and able to problem-solve on the fly.


Primary and Essential Functions

  • Execute grounds keeping
  • Mow and weedwack grass, clean up debris
  • Maintain accurate records of landscaping improvement
  • Landscape by planting flowers, grass, shrubs, bushes, and trees
  • Regularly inspects gym property (interior and exterior) for areas of concern
  • Ad hoc projects such as irrigation installation and maintenance
  • Provide snow removal as needed
  • Apply fertilizer to enhance growth
  • Apply Herbicide for unwanted plant mitigation
  • Apply insecticide to combat predatory insects
  • Prune, weed, and maintain grounds as needed
  • Install rocks, cement, electrical, and water features
  • Maintain irrigation systems, including winterizing the systems and starting them up in spring
  • Care for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing, removing thatch, trimming, or edging around flower beds, walks, or walls
  • Use hand tools, such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge or brush trimmers, Chainsaws! or axes
  • Ability to operate skid steer, excavator, dingo, jackhammer, and other large landscaping tools
  • Gathers and removes litter
  • Participates in daily planning, scrum, reprioritizing and execution of daily plans
  • Able to communicate effectively and in a timely manner with Facilities Manager on all ongoing issues, reprioritizations, and execution of projects and duties.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2+ years of landscaping/maintenance experience
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot;
  • General maintenance skills such as winterizing building, electrical skills, plumbing experience, for maintenance of water feature, and other grounds
  • Specialization in irrigation
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work early mornings, late nights, and weekends
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • The ability to lift, push, pull, or carry objects of at least 100 lbs.


Physical Demands

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk, or hear
  • Frequently lift and/ or move more than 100 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and depth perception.
  • Frequently in hot weather, operating in the heat and sun during the summer months.


Job Hazards

  • Position requires the use of hand tools and power tools and therefore exposes one to punctures, lacerations, foreign objects in the eye, repetitive motion injuries
  • May be required to work on the roof top, ladders and areas of great heights which exposes one to falls
  • Exposed to wet and/or humid conditions
  • Risk of electrical shock
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to occasionally loud
  • PPE may be required for this position
