As a Saw Operator on our winning team in Chattanooga, TN a typical day might look like this:

  • Saw, cut, package, and mark material according to customer specifications including holding requested cutting tolerances.
  • Complete verified cutting dimensions on production work orders and complete applicable worksheets work safely.
  • Select material from specific heats or for physical condition in accordance with instructions on orders
  • Unload and receive material, weighs, counts, check sizes. Identify by color and heat or test numbers. Place into stock racks or designated areas
  • You start the day reviewing production orders then preparing your material for processing
  • Safety is a priority – you will learn proper safety measures via online and in-person training
  • You ensure the material meets a customer’s expectations by checking the size, finish, and accuracy of the finished product. (Measure twice, cut once!)
  • You will use a crane and/or forklift to move material for outbound shipping.
  • Check to make sure your machine and station is in working order and identify any issues.
  • You will keep your work area clean and ensure that all workplace hazards are reported immediately.
  • Other miscellaneous duties as directed by supervision
Position Requirements:
Regular attendance, including being on time and ready to work at assigned start time.
  • Great attitude and team player
  • Ability to work assigned overtime, at times with short notice
  • Successful completion of the Ramsay Corporation Combined Basic Skills Assessment which evaluates your reading, math, inspection & measurement, and process monitoring & problem-solving skills
  • Ability to find, enter, and print information on a computer as necessary
  • Ability to pass physical requirements exam for vision and hearing, as well as mobility and lifting requirements
