PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Within the Global Information Service (GIS) at Owens Corning (OC), the Global Customer Experience Center of Excellence (COE) team is focused on delivering tools and technology for the full customer experience. This includes all global processes for lead to cash, digital worker for customer service, market facing digital engagement and online selling systems.


The SAP Sales & Distribution (SD) Architect supports the needs of all three of OC’s global businesses for SAP SD and Customer Engagement Systems. As a technology leader that possesses a compliment of strong communication, leadership, and technical expertise, this role will be accountable to design and implement processes and solutions for our customers and businesses that use both new and existing technologies to fulfill business requirements in accordance with our OC enterprise architecture, IT standards, and Customer Experience strategy.


A natural curiosity for technology and for researching and defining how to optimize processes within the Customer Experience COE, across the products listed above, are key for being successful in this role.


The SD Architect is a student of technology, maintains market awareness, and is networked into customer and sales vertical disciplines internally and externally. The SD Architect is accountable for keeping up to date on new and emerging developments in IT solutions and is expected to gain a working level understanding of these technologies by pursuing opportunities to gain practical knowledge through professional events, peer networks, or formal training. The SD Architect will identify opportunities to integrate new technology with the current environment to address business opportunities.

Span of control: No direct reports; indirect leadership of external partners / project resources as needed


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Business leadership: Develops strong partnerships with key stakeholders and process owners to thoroughly understand processes and business goals.
  • Leads technology roadmap development for SAP Sales & Distribution
  • Leads associated technology assessments and technology standards development.
    • Ensures all SD blueprint documents, configuration documents and functional spec documents are created in compliance to our architectural frameworks and architecture standards
  • Participate in multiple (and sometimes parallel) implementations and continuous improvement projects in a solutions architect role, including activities such as:
    • Definition of project scope, based on workshops with business representatives, and knowledge of our landscape and solutions.
    • Participates in SD blueprinting sessions with business and IT stakeholders to understand key requirements. Leads the blueprinting of topics that are highly integrated with other tracks.
    • Ideates on solutions to complex requirements.
    • Reviews and approves blueprints as outlined by the functional subject matter expert, of requirements and solutions.
    • Assists subtrack leads with systems build activities including configuration, master data, investigation of enhancement points, and integrations, and writing functional specifications, unit testing etc.
  • Models complex requirements through proof of concepts.
  • Interface SAP with other applications to improve systems usability, customer experience and process efficiency
  • Design, develop and deliver enhancements and optimizations in SD
  • As the Global EDI Product Owner, supports functional requirements for new customer onboardings. Maintains the backlog for new features and leads development of new documents/IDOCS.
  • Inspire and cultivate talent. Upskill team members and mentor them on systems knowledge, enhancement capabilities and complex issue resolution.
  • Collaborate with other product architects across other initiatives and implementations


JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree required, post-graduate degree or equivalent experience preferred in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Information Technology.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience within Information Technology industry.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in SAP – Sales and Distribution.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with EDI (Orders, Confirmations, Invoices. etc).
  • Prior life-cycle implementation of SAP ECC or S4 is required. Expertise in leading design & blueprint sessions, SAP SD Configuration, Development, Cutover Activities, Data Migration, Testing and hyper-care.
  • Strong project management skills, tools and techniques.
  • Knowledge of SAP ECC customer technologies and how they integrate is required
  • Experience with web integration to SAP


EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:

  • Prior experience with SAP S4 HANA / SAP Cloud Applications preferred
  • Experience in delivering Web-based solutions is preferred.
  • Experience designing interfaces between SAP and external systems preferred
  • Ability to build strong partnerships internally within IT, with business users, and 3rd party partners
  • Ability to identify, own, and prioritize tasks to meet project milestones
  • Designed all or key modules of a custom business application from scratch, including technical design, data relationships, UI’s, and system interfaces
  • Experience working in a highly-matrixed structure across functional, business, geographic and cultural boundaries
  • Strong written and oral communication skills to convey relevant information clearly with confidence; understanding others through active listening; successfully sets and manages expectations
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and translate business requirements and technical solutions cross-functionally
  • Previously led assessment of platforms as a part of a new technology evaluation and selection process
  • Previously led proof of concept project(s) to validate the applicability of a new technology to a business process, including accountability for the summary report-out of findings.
  • Organized and executed IT process development /solution design review with external suppliers.
  • Team player – mentors the team. Shares best practices, new technologies, and general knowledge with teammates.
