Essential Responsibilities:

  • Solicit, negotiate and generate contracted revenues from prospects that meet criteria established in the hotel business plan.
  • Employ revenue management techniques to recommend corporate rate proposals.
  • Accurately prepare and present Requests for Proposals so that both client and hotel receive a good value.
  • Prospect for new contract business using a wide variety of methods including phone calls, outside sales calls, attending community functions, internet prospecting, supplier partnerships, trade journals, and reader boards.
  • Ensures outside sales information is added into SalesPro/Delphi.
  • Develop, implement and constantly modify sales action plans.
  • Manage and maintain an accurate and up-to-date contact management system.
  • Negotiate and close contracts that meet the hotel business plan objectives. Desired arrival, departure and volume patterns must be met.
  • Attend daily business review to internally communicate client requirements thereby ensuring all information is accurate between client and hotel staff, approved by Director of Sales.
  • Coordinate and participate in target market trade shows and sales blitzes.
  • Conduct competitive analysis and maintain competitor files to be able to compete successfully.
  • Maintains good rapport with local civic groups and companies.
  • Reports to work for scheduled shift, on time and within professional appearance standards in accordance with company policy.
  • Knows and complies with all company policies and procedures pertaining to this position and its duties.

  • Performs other related duties as required.

  • Developing sales relationships within the community by attending community activities such as Chamber of Commerce activities and Convention and Visitors Bureau activities.
  • Use analytical skills for measuring business potential and value to the hotel.
  • Interact with all levels of customers and hotel management.
  • Maintain and further develop a strong network of contacts in the hospitality industry.
  • Ability to stay abreast of market knowledge and adjust strategies as necessary to remain competitive in the market.
  • Promotes teamwork and collaboration, builds positive and strong relationships with leadership and teams.
  • Able to embrace change and create an environment conducive to change.
  • Ability to work under high levels of pressure and under deadlines.


Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree preferred, Hospitality Management degree preferred or relevant experience.
  • 1-2 years prior Sales experience; Hospitality industry experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of current vehicle insurance required.
  • Reliable transportation for travel to regional locations. Traveling by vehicle or air to various locations, conferences, etc.


Hours:

  • Due to the nature of the business, scheduling may vary and include nights, weekends, and holidays.


Physical Requirements of the Position:

  • Light Work: Exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally (Occasionally: activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time), and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently (Frequently: activity or condition exists up to 1/3 to 2/3 of the time), and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists up to 2/3 or most of the time) to move objects. Requires walking or standing to a significant degree.
  • May be required to lift in excess of 40 pounds on occasion.


Physical Activity of the Position:

  • Stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, picking/pinching with fingers, typing, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, repetitive motion.
