Third Space Distribution is Syracuse’s newest craft beer wholesaler. We focus on the growing number of creative, small-scale, New York craft breweries. Our goal is to provide these small brewers access to the best craft beer bars, restaurants and bottle shops throughout the Empire State. Our distribution business is also complemented by our direct to consumer, e-commerce storefront, Drink NY Craft.com. Together, we plan on reaching the state’s most passionate craft beer drinkers bringing these exciting brands delivered directly to their front door.

Summary

Third Space is seeking an experienced Sales Manager for the Leadership Team, reporting directly to the CEO. The Sales Manager will drive retail business and expand operations throughout New York state. This hybrid position is based in Syracuse and will require office time, remote work and outside sales.

This role will initially be a direct sales position. The right candidate will be able to quickly develop processes and hire a sales team. We are seeking an individual who is passionate about craft beer and has a vibrant, outgoing, and positive attitude about working in a fast paced, start up environment.

This person will be a key player responsible for establishing and servicing an account base, working with supplier partners (breweries), and implementing an operational plan. The Sales Manager will be responsible for building the growth strategy and hiring a team of Business Development Representatives that will manage and service a growing account base.

This position is 5 days per week, M-F with occasional evening and weekend day work. The Sales Manager will be required to attend craft beer industry events.

Base Salary plus Bonus + Commission. Commensurate based on experience.

Job Responsibilities

Sales

  • Initiate conversations with retailers, set meetings, and visit prospects and customers on a regular basis.
  • Develop and maintain excellent customer relations with retail accounts.
  • Develop a personal rapport with account decision makers establishing a strong B2B partnership.
  • Help plan, build and grow an account base in accordance with the sales strategy and growth plan.
  • Maintain the CRM and report on the sales funnel.
  • Achieve weekly and quarterly sales goals.

Operations

  • Develop and implement SOPs related to retail sales and training of Business Development Representatives.
  • Assist in developing and implementing SOPs related to warehouse and delivery
  • Prepare weekly reports for the leadership team and represent the Sales Department at weekly management meetings.

Management

  • Assist in developing a plan for territory roll out.
  • Recruit and hire Business Development Representatives.
  • Train and manage Business Development Representatives to support their success.

Job Requirements

  • 2-3 years previous sales experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills (Google Business, Hubspot CRM)
  • Ability and willingness to work independently.
  • Must reside within the territory.
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License.

  • Strong understanding of the three tier distribution business model and the role a wholesaler plays supporting supplier partners.
