General Summary:

This position will be a key position within the Sales Department reporting to Sales Operations Manager. The Sales Engineer will work directly with Strategic Account Managers, Account Executives, and Agents assisting them with pre-sales activity (for existing and new accounts).

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide technical sales support for both voice and data opportunities, either from the office or at the customer location.
  • Identify potential access methods including UNE copper, fiber, and third-party last mile fiber providers. Obtain quotes as needed and send pricing information to Product Management for pricing.
  • Represent the sales team on the weekly Engineering review call. Provide technical detail to Network Engineering and OSP Engineering as required to estimate project costs.
  • Work with the Sales Operations Manager and Director of Sales to conduct comprehensive sales and product knowledge training for SAM’s and AE’s.
  • Stay current with new technologies and understand how they will be deployed. Suggest opportunities for new product development.
  • Stay active with trade groups and vendors to facilitate sales opportunities through strong vendor relationships.
  • Assist in the development of cost models for products and services.

  • Expertise in Telecommunications technology, including telephony, Ethernet, IP, VoIP and SONET.
  • Knowledge of third party fiber networks including MaineCom, MFC, FirstLight, Lightower, Spectrum Business, Consolidated and GWI.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma required; 2 or 4-year degree preferred, with a minimum of five years of experience in technical and/or sales engineering roles in the telecommunications industry.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
