Description:

The Safety Manager will develop, coordinate, and implement occupational health and safety policies and procedures at a regional level to promote and ensure effective safety operations in the organization. This position in in Douglasville, GA.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position will have supervisory responsibilities in the Health and Safety Department

Job Responsibilities (list is not inclusive)

  • Develop and implement workplace safety policies and procedures in accordance with OSHA and GC standards.
  • Provide personnel with safety-related information such as training sessions, emergency protocols, and proper use of safety equipment and PPE.
  • Assist project staff with project specific safety plans
  • Review and update existing safety and risk management policies and procedures to ensure they are up to date.
  • Oversee the company's daily operations and identify opportunities for improvement of safety regulations and improve risk management.
  • Performing safety audits and physically inspecting all work areas and jobsites to identify possible safety issues.
  • Conducting risk assessments to minimize workplace accidents, occupational illnesses or long-term health hazards.
  • Preparing monthly and annual safety reports and present the information to management and file all needed reports for compliance purposes
  • Collaborating with management to plan and implement a safety protocol budget
  • Complete all OCIP and CCIP submissions
  • Work directly with insurance carrier’s safety and risk management personnel to maximize the usage of their resources for training
  • Manage workers comp and property and casual insurance claims aggressively to minimize cost and closure time

Requirements:

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of current company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct training.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety, Safety Engineering, Environmental Health, or related field required.
  • At least five years of occupational health and safety experience in an industrial environment required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 15 Lbs. consistently.
  • Climb, kneel, twist upper body, reach, stretch.
  • Ability to travel to job sites and remote office locations
