Safety & Compliance Officer

(Lead Abatement and Home Weatherization Programs)

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Minimum education is an Associate’s degree in construction management or other related field; extensive work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

2. Must possess a current Michigan Builders License and have a minimum of five years construction experience.

3. Experience in the area of residential environmental hazards preferred.

4. Must have the ability to physically perform all facets of job assignments, including, but not limited to lifting, bending, crawling in confined spaces, and climbing ladders.

5. Must possess knowledge of local Building Codes.

6. Must possess and/or have ability to obtain environmental certifications, as required.

7. Supervisory/project coordination experience preferred.

8. Computer skills required, as well as working knowledge of Microsoft Office, digital camera downloading, and ability to learn new computer programs.

9. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and have ability to travel throughout the service area.

10. Must successfully pass all agency-required background checks.

WAGE RANGE

$28.00/hour plus agency fringe benefits

Fringe benefits include, but are not limited to, four-day workweek, health insurance, annual time, sick time and paid holidays

WORK LOCATION

Base in Caro

WORK SCHEDULE

40 hours per week, Monday through Thursday

Flexibility in schedule may be required

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Conduct walk-throughs, audits, and inspections of eligible homes to ensure safe environment and compliance with safety rules and standards.

2. Provide on-site supervision and periodic hands-on work at job sites.

3. Provide appropriate and immediate response to health or safety concerns.

4. Acquire and maintain complete knowledge of, and comply with, required standards, guidelines and regulations of all programs within area of responsibility.

5. Perform staff safety briefings weekly and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment.

6. Visually inspect site to identify and document potential hazards and address hazards in a timely manner with foreman and crew workers.
