This experienced individual will assume responsibility for billing and collection of our commercial insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid contracts. Experience in home health billing as well as with Medicare DDE system a plus.

Duties include timely submission of clean claims electronically and following up on unpaid claims as identified through EOB's and aging report. Will call insurance companies to ensure claims are processed/reprocessed properly or to determine reason for denials. Reviews outstanding patient balances weekly and reports to supervisor any collection problem or trends.

Job Duties:

  • Enters payments and denials in patient’s accounts.
  • Works denials and submits company write offs to Controller.
  • Works requests and problems from insurance companies, patients, etc.
  • Balances payment and charge batches.
  • Prepares and submits claims to various insurance companies either electronically or by paper.
  • Answers questions from patients, clerical staff and insurance companies.
  • Identifies and resolves patient billing complaints.
  • Performs various collection actions including contacting patients by phone, correcting and resubmitting claims to third party payers.
  • Processes payments from insurance companies.

Education and Experience:

  • H.S. Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • 1-3 years’ experience in a home health billing office with duties such as insurance, collections or patient follow-up
  • Computer proficiency
  • Proven ability to analyze patient invoices
  • 2-3 years medical terminology, 2-3 years medical coding, billing and/or claims.
  • Home Health: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Medical Collections: 2 years (Preferred)
  • Medical Billing: 3 years (Required)
  • Medicare Billing: 1 year (Required)
  • Microsoft Excel: 1 year (Preferred)

Salary: $25.00-$30.00/hour

Schedule:

  • 8-hour shift Monday to Friday in office (not remote)
