Receiving Team Member – seasonal
Hicks Nurseries is the largest Garden Center on Long Island. We are seeking seasonal Team Members in our Receiving dept. Come grow with us!
Essential Functions:
Efficiently receive and secure inventory and prepare that inventory for the merchandising team, following protocols.
Safely operate equipment and vehicles such as 4-wheel electric carts, stock chasers, or pallet jacks.
Unload trucks.
Price merchandise according to documented standards. Includes printing labels and tags.
Stage inventory for the merchandise team to be shelf-, table-, or yard-ready.
Warehouse inventory according to warehouse plans and standards.
Keep all receiving and warehouse spaces neat, clean, and organized.
Provide customer service.
Participate in product knowledge and other training.
Position Requirements
Must be able to consistently lift 25-40 lbs. independently and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to push/pull wheeled carts of 400 lbs. consistently.
Must be able to safely operate equipment and vehicles such as electric carts, stock chasers, or pallet jacks.
Ability to handle near-constant physical activity required, including standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, squeezing, and grasping.
Basic computer literacy
Attention to detail and able to juggle multiple tasks
Ability to communicate effectively in English – reading, orally, and in writing
Position Preferences
High school degree or equivalent
Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish
