Assistant manager job description and expectations

The assistant manager will work full-time hours during all shifts, including weekends, evenings, and holidays. The assistant manager will report to, and work directly under, the store manager as a member of a team-oriented environment.

The main purpose of the assistant manager is to assist the store manager with all daily retail store functions as directed. Other duties and responsibilities include:

Perform all in-store jobs - Opening and closing shifts. Enter inventory as deliveries arrive and generate labels for pricing purposes. Price merchandise and put on sales floor

Customer sales and service - greet incoming customers and answer phone calls. Operate the register to complete sales and collect payments.

Maintain store appearance – the store should be kept clean and neat in appearance; and appealing to the eye for customers. This requires an attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Ensure displays remain arranged per managers instructions

Restocking as needed

Ensure all product in store is on sales floor

General cleaning chores as specified

Other - Assist manager with tracking stock on hand for ordering purposes. The assistant manager should retain a working knowledge of all products available in the store and know the store layout specified by the manager.

General upkeep of backstock - ensure backstock is kept in designated order and rotated as needed

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour
