Community Options, Inc. is a national non-profit agency providing services to individuals with disabilities in 11 states.

We are now hiring Full-Time Residential Program Specialist in Manhattan, NY. The Residential Program Specialist uses best practices and technology within a community based residential setting to assist in the person-centered planning for individuals with developmental disabilities under their supervision. The Program Specialist is expected to ensure the physical, intellectual and emotional well-being of Individuals is maintained so they are able to live as independently as possible. The Program Specialist is expected to conduct individual and group trainings, make sound decisions, have a flexible schedule, and respond to crisis situations. Ingenuity and creativity will be required when determining the best training methods, assistance, and supports for an individual with developmental disabilities.

Starting pay is $67,080/annually

Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision and oversight of up to 5+ Residential Program Managers who will directly report to the Program Specialist.
  • Complete staff evaluations including but not limited to 90-day and annual reviews
  • Monitor and maintain residential budgets
  • Oversee the design of staff schedules and provide guidance to Program Managers to manage overtime.
  • Monitor and schedule required staff trainings, seminars, and conferences
  • Monitor fiscal, medical and program documentation is completed to ensure accuracy
  • Participate in Life Plan Circle of Support Meetings and Clinical IDT Meetings as needed.
  • Develop and monitor Staff Action Plans and Individual Plans of Protective Oversight
  • Conduct routine inspections of assigned residences to and ensure any identified maintenance concerns are addressed.
  • Ensure assigned vehicles are maintained, inspected and repaired as needed.
  • Provide oversight and review of all Personal Allowance funds
  • Communicate regularly with clinical team members (Nursing, Nutrition etc) on health status of Individual and ensure Individual is attending all medical appointments.
  • Build a support network between individuals and community members
  • Communicate, correspond and document reports for individuals to their family and/or guardian, staff, Care Manager, and other professionals
  • Ensure treatment team approach so service and support delivery connects work, home and social needs
  • Submit monthly management written reports to regional Executive Director outlining operational status, progress and concerns
  • May perform the duties of Program Manager and/or Direct Support Professionals as necessary, in accordance with current staffing needs
  • Attends all audits, inspections, and cooperates with all incident investigations
  • Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with three years of related experience; OR
  • High School Diploma or GED with five years of related experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Electronic Health Record preferred
  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
  • Complete all state and agency required training per state guidelines
  • Team oriented with demonstrated leadership experience
  • Experience with problem solving against multiple priorities
  • Ability to establish a comfortable and supportive relationship with individuals receiving supports
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and remain calm in crisis situations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills
