The Department of Family Medicine (familymedicine.georgetown.edu) at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and the MedStar Health/Georgetown-Washington Hospital Center Family Medicine Residency Program are seeking a full-time Residency Program Director.

The ideal candidate must possess a passion for resident and student teaching and a commitment to caring for the urban, underserved patient population with at least two years in a leadership role as an Assistant Program Director, Residency Program Director, Director of Medical Student Education, or Vice Chair for Education, as well as five years of medical education experience at the UME, GME, or CME level. This position includes 0.3 clinical time at MedStar Medical Group Family Medicine at Fort Lincoln with supervision duties including faculty development and collaborative partnerships and resident and student teaching.

Responsibilities include participating in resident recruitment; overseeing resident scholarly activity; ensuring the quality of didactic and clinical education, including the maintenance and development of curricula and partner training sites; and working directly with residents to ensure appropriate milestone development, while meeting ACGME requirements. Additional responsibilities include representing Family Medicine at institutional education meetings (UME, GME, CME); faculty development and academic evaluations for residency faculty; supervision and direction of educational programming; grant-funding initiatives; collaborative and interprofessional projects; and teaching for faculty, residents, and students.

This faculty position will collaborate with the Vice Chair for Education, Director of Medical Student Education, Vice Chair for Research, and the Department Chair for direction of educational programming; grant-funding initiatives; and collaborative and interprofessional projects for faculty, residents, and students. The Residency Program supports the Department Chair in a continued tradition of innovative, community-oriented educational excellence and patient-centered clinical care. A minimum of 0.3 FTE time will be assigned to full-spectrum ambulatory patient care, precepting, and being a member of the team covering inpatient medicine. Inpatient obstetrical skills preferred, but not required.

We are an ACGME-accredited, 7-7-7 community-based, MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and MedStar Washington Hospital Center-administered program, sponsored by the MedStar Health GME Consortium. The FMC is a 20,000-visit-per-year practice with NCQA Level 3 PCMH status. Adult psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, clinical psychology, clinical social work, referral specialist, perinatal navigator, and community health educator are well established on-site with plans to add licensed marriage & family therapist. Located just outside the nation's capital, opportunities exist to explore interests in health policy, public policy, research, global health, and the AFP journal. MD, DO, or equivalent with current ABFM certification or equivalent required. Position includes appointment at a non-tenured assistant or associate professor level with commensurate salary; advanced appointment and salary are dependent upon qualifications.
